A suspenseful, psychological thriller, “Truth” exposes the hidden demons buried deep inside each and every one of us. After a chance encounter over the internet, Caleb (Sean Paul Lockhart, “Milk”, “Judas Kiss”, “Chillerama”) meets and falls head over heels for Jeremy (Rob Moretti, “Crutch”, “An Affirmative Act”, “Snapshot”), and soon the line between love and lies blur.
Struggling to keep his past a secret, including his mentally ill mother (Emmy Winner® Blanche Baker, “16 Candles”, “Raw Deal”, “Taking Chances”) Caleb slowly succumbs to his darker side. A sudden turn of events finds Jeremy held captive, until Caleb’s quest for the truth be revealed.
Hi everyone! My name is Rob Moretti. Some of you may recognize me from my first feature film “Crutch”. It was great experience for me, and I never dreamed that this little film based on my life would end up in playing in theaters and landing in the Top 50 DVD Rentals in the US (yes, sitting right beside movies like “Flightplan” and “War of the Worlds”).
Gaining a wealth of knowledge about the business and how Hollywood really “works”, I knew in my gut that my next film had to be done differently.
“Truth” has been in my heart and head for many years. After a life-changing illness in 2011, it was now or never. While recovering from surgery, I began writing, and within 2 months, the script was complete.
One tidbit of information I picked up along the way was that as a screenwriter, you should NEVER write a film with a specific actor in mind. For those of you who know me, you know I like to break the rules (just a bit). After seeing Sean Paul Lockhart in “Judas Kiss”, as well as personal interviews, I knew that he would be the perfect Caleb. So feverishly I wrote, and wrote, and wrote. Then began my mission for reaching out to him – not an easy task. However, within a few days, he knew about “Truth” and off the script went. We talked about it for some time, hit it off, and finally the pieces of the puzzle were connected. He was truly an inspiration in the final drafts of the screenplay.
In a time when things were at there worst for me, my passion for this project prevailed. Getting really good feedback from the screenplay, I knew what my next steps needed to be.
So why Indiegogo? Simple – it’s the best way we can keep the true spirit of independent filmmaking going. By your generous donations, we are able to maintain 100% creative freedom, and make sure that our vision comes to life on-screen just the way we intend it to be.
My first film “Crutch” was fully funded by family and friends (and the help of a credit card or three). At the time, Indiegogo didn’t exist. Facebook was just on a college campus. Twitter didn’t tweet for another 3 years. Indiegogo is the perfect vehicle to get a large amount of people involved in a film from the ground up, while keeping the integrity of a project intact.
We want everybody who contributes to feel they are part of the filmmaking process. The perks we designed are very exciting, and will enable you to be as close to the process as you would like. In the end, we want you to feel proud and honored to have been a significant part in making a great film!
Perks range from a copy of my first film, “Crutch” on DVD, signed screenplays of “Truth” by the cast and crew, a visit to the set, a chance to appear in the film, and even an exciting two-night stay in the Big Apple while you dine with the stars!
During our campaign, we will continually update you on our process via this site and email. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us! You can send your inquires to firstname.lastname@example.org. I am more than happy to answer any questions that may arise.
Making a film is a large undertaking. Your funds will be used for both pre-production and the actual production itself. Besides a talented cast and crew, here are just a few of the things your contributions will be used for:
- Equipment rentals
- Special effects
There are other ways to help us achieve our goal. Whether you are posting an update on LinkedIn, updating your Facebook status, tweeting to your followers or sharing our video on your YouTube channel, every bit goes a long way. The more you share this page via Indie Go-Go, the more Indie Go-Go will help promote the project. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated!
I personally want to thank you all for the support and believing in this film. Without it, it would be near impossible to achieve the goals we set forth. We intend to make a thought-provoking and amazing film, and through you, this can be possible. THANK YOU!
