A music video to highlight the threat and intimidation of families who do not wish to sell their homes in Scotland to Donald Trump.

Brian May gave permission to reproduce a version of Bohemian Rhapsody in the fight to highlight the plight of the Menie families against the bullying of misinformation by the Trump organisation.
 
The Tripping up Trump group, which has been fighting on behalf of the families, also gave this project their full backing.
 
We were not primarily against the idea of Donald Trump's golf course and housing development at the Menie Estate in Scotland but outraged that normal planning requirements which exist to protect people and our environment were swept aside by local and national government.   To Donald Trump's amazement, his money has not bought everyone and several families wish to remain in their homes.  They should be allowed to do so and Donald Trump should not be able to use the CPO (Compulsory Purchase Order) system or harassment and intimidation to remove them.
 

Donald Trump has continually asserted that he is building the golf course in memory of his mother who hailed from Lewis.  However, this video will turn those words on their head. A puppet of Donald Trump will sing altered words to Bohemian Rhapsody.  It will be produced to the highest standard, using top class musicians, puppet and film makers and will include wry humour.

 
The Impact

 

We hope this video will draw attention to the plight of the families who have suffered constant intimidation by the Trump organisation and question the reasons behind his ability to bypass environmental policy.

 

The Trump organisation, the Scottish Government and local council have access to a wide variety of media outlets but the Menie families are limited in putting their views over - especially as the local paper, The Press & Journal, refused to report the activities of the protest group. 

 

What We Need & What You Get

Although the Indiegogo fund raising has ended, we are still looking for financial and in-kind support for the project, so do get in touch if you can help.
 

 

We need to hire equipment and cover the cost of the outlays for the puppet maker and musicians, including studio hire.

 

The professionals working on the video will give their time for free, but we need to cover their expenses.  Our aim is to keep the standard high and make a polished video which people will want to view as a creative and musical work and not just a means of putting over our message.  This way, more people are likely to watch it and pass it on to their friends.

 

We hope to release the video by the summer of 2011- understandably, time is vital.
