Help Me Get My Dream Job at Bethesda Game Studios
Hello, my name is Alexander J. Velicky. I am a well seasoned game modder who makes mods for Bethesda Game Studios' games. I am 18 years old, and I live with my dad. My goal is to obtain a job at Bethesda Game Studios. I have dedicated the last three years of my life to creating and learning, in the hopes that I could impress Bethesda Game Studios into hiring me. I have released three very sucessful mods so far, and I am currently working on the largest one yet. It is a new lands mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim called Falskaar. It's the size of a full expansion, with over 20 quests, almost 50 unique characters, and upon completion should add upwards of 30-40 hours of gameplay. I have a team of 30 voice actors who are fully voicing the mod on a professional, high quality level, and a team of Quality Assurance testers that are grinding down every rock, tree, room, quest, and treasure chest to make sure that it's top quality and bug free!
When completed, this will be one of the largest, if not the largest, new lands/quest mod ever released for on of BGS's games ever. It is my hope that once it is completed, I can fly to Bethesda Game Studios' office in Rockville, Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. I hope to show up, in person and drop off my resume at their front desk. I want to show them that I really want this job.
The issue is that, unfortunately, the DC area happens to be a very expensive place to visit, and I don't exactly have a big pile of money laying around to do this. That's where I need your help. I'm hoping to raise enough money to fly to DC, show up at Bethesda Game Studios, and get a job there.
My Portfolio's Projects
Project Genesis was the first mod I ever made that was released to the public. It adds 3-7 hours of gameplay, and tells the tale of a mad scientist who disappeared just before the great war of 2077. The player, 200 years later, unfreezes the scientists partner, and goes on an adventure to track him down, and stop his evil plan. It took me 11 months to make, and was released in December of 2010. The Collector was a very small mod I made in just two weeks. In it, you help a slick, smooth talking loan shark named 'Mr. Franco' retrieve debts that are owed to him. How will you handle each client? Will you talk to them, and convince them to part with the money? Will you and your bat have a chat with their kneecaps, hoping that they cough up the dough? Or will you simply gun them down in the streets and collect for Mr. Franco? This took me about 2 or 3 weeks to make, and was released in January of 2011. In Deimos, the player hears of a mysterious treasure of some kind called the 'Deimos'. They enter an old abandoned military bunker, and accidently travel back in time. What is the Deimos? What was it for? The player finds out, and meets a few friends along the way only to find that they, and the Deimos, are doomed to an untimely death. Can you help them survive? Falskaar is my current work in progress that I hope to complete and release in late Fall of 2012. It's by far my most ambitious project yet, already adding more content than my three previous projects combined. It adds a unique, lore-friendly island filled to the brim with danger and mystique. The player is sent there and arrives in Amber Creek, a small village on the river, only to discover than the people are leaving, and the land is dying off. It is threatened to collapse once and forall by an impending war. Can you help the people of Amber Creek stop the war from occuring, and save their land from one final blow that could mean the end of life in Falskaar? Explore tons of new dungeons, and brand new fully furbished worldspace, and almost 60 unique voice rolls, played by 30 semi-professional and professional voice actors. I've been working on this project for 12 months so far, and I hope to have it released within the next few months! What I Need & What You Get
I'm looking for 3500 dollars to cover expenses for a trip to Rockville, Maryland, where I will be turning in my resume to Bethesda Game Studios directly at their front desk. I hope to travel there shortly after releasing my latest mod, Falskaar, in late November or early December. This means that I would go in mid December, or early January. (Most likely JanuarY) Due to the expensive nature of the area I'm looking at a cost of about $1000-$1250 for round-trip airfare, around 1500 dollars for hotels (which are roughly $150/night at the cheapest rate, with a plan of 5-7 nights), and extra money for food and bus/cab fares. I think that 3500 dollars is a safe estimate to ensure my funds don’t run out before the end of the trip.
I want to do something special for those of you who are willing to donate. Although the result of this trip won’t be a product that I can give back to you directly, I can promise that your donations mean everything to me and will be rewarded accordingly. One bonus is that each perk level receives all of the previous perks as well. (e.g. 100 dollars gets the perks for the 50-dollar-level as well as that of the 25-dollar-level).

You are amazing for donating so much money to me, and it really means a lot. Perk is delivered when “Falskaar” is released. (I can only offer this before the game is completed. Once it's released and the credits are done, no more names will be added, but I certainly still appreciate your contribution!)
- For those who donate $100 or more…I don't even know what to say, but I can certainly try to think of something. You get an audio/video (your preference) Skype call directly with me, and nobody else. It will be one-on-one time where we can discuss my projects, goals, or game design. You can ask whatever you'd like to know about those things. Perk is delivered in the weeks following the campaign's end. In addition, you will get 1 week early access to Falskaar! There are no requirements, and no strings attached. You get the mod before everyone else, and can enjoy it in all it's glory! (This part of the perk is only valid before Falskaar is released, obviously.) *It also requires that you already own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for PC.* Regardless, you still get the Skype call and all previous perks!
- For the first person to donate $250 or more, you are a god amongst men. I'm absolutely floored that someone would be so kind, and your reward will be equal to your weight in gold, figuratively speaking. You will receive a unique title placard in the credit reel of “Falskaar” to show how kind of a person you really are and how much your contribution means to me! Perk is delivered the day “Falskaar” is released. (As with the 50-dollar perk, this one is only available before the project is done.)
Even if my goal is not reached, I'm not giving up. I'll still try as hard as I can to go to DC after releasing “Falskaar.” Every penny counts, and I’m optimistic that I can get as close as possible to my goal, or even surpass it. If the goal is not reached I'll need to find another way to raise the money, but regardless of the outcome of the campaign, all funds earned will go directly towards funding this trip. The impact here is pretty straight forward. Once I get enough money to do so, and I release "Falskaar", I'm flying to Rockville, Maryland, showing at the BGS building and dropping of my resume. That will give me the boost I need to get above anyone else applying for a job there, and when they look at my portfolio, they'll hopefully hire me.
While I can't gurentee that I'll get the job, I personally believe 100% that I will. I've built up a massive portfolio of professional level work. I've displayed my skills as a level designer, quest designer, world designer, writer, audio designer, team leader and manager, and more. I far surpass the job requirements for the position I hope to get (Level and/or Quest Designer), so if I show up in person, they can't say no.
