Travel like a local + Make a difference!
AlleyCat's founders and contributors are addicted to travel. We are driven to fill up our passports with stamps and journals with stories from unique experiences of different cultures, local food, small towns, and friends new and old. We also believe in leaving a place better than we found it. AlleyCat was developed to accomplish both!
We look to you; fellow travelers and those with the thirst for travel for support in getting this project off the ground!

The product.
This app is for the explorers, the wanderers, and the curious! You know who you are.
We are compiling the most interesting history, pop culture, nightlife, and local experiences into one intuitive application. Designed for travelers of all budgets, locals, and recent transplants, the app uses your current location to show you the best a city has to offer, how to interact with it, and how to combine multiple things you are interested in into your own custom walking tour.
Unlike guide books, AlleyCat is never out of date which means you have the latest and most up to date information at your fingertips.
Key features include: Locally sourced content (history and attractions), custom based walking tours, social media integration, public transit info for each attraction, taxi fare predictor, calendar of upcoming events, integrated filterable maps, attraction bookmarking, practical and safety information, and so much more.

Make a positive and local impact.
Once the app is released, part of our profits go right back into the cities we serve. We want to leave a place better than we found it and we do so by donating 5% of each cities profit to a local charity in that city. This means we can make a big impact and help to target specific local needs.
For San Francisco, our first release, we have chosen to target youth homelessness by partnering with Larkin Street Youth Services, a local organization working tirelessly to get young people off the streets and give them the tools they need to pursue their dreams and get ahead. AlleyCat will donate 5% of profits to Larkin Street Youth Services when the app is released.

The money we raise...
The money we raise will allow us to complete the app's functionality, perform testing to work out any kinks, and take the required steps to get the app to our audience via the app store. Any money that is left over will be spent preparing for our Android release and completing content for additional cities.

How much will it cost?
We expect the app to cost between $3 and $9 dollars. We are currently knee deep in pricing strategy and are considering the following factors in our decision making process: the rate of customer acquisition at different price points, pricing of similar (but less awesome) apps, and how we can best serve the charity component of AlleyCat.
iPhone, Android and Windows Phone
AlleyCat will be available first on the iPhone and next on the Android. We anticipate the Android release to occur approximately 6 months after the iPhone release. We have not yet begun developing this app for Windows Phone, but with your help we hope to get started!
