Phaidra Knight is a 2014 Winter Olympic hopeful for the U.S. Bobsledding Team. She is one of the most renowned rugby players in the world with credentials that include three appearances in the Rugby World Cup, 2-time All World Team honoree, and USA Rugby Player of the Decade.

The athletic recipe required to be a champion “brakeman” in the sport of bobsledding is similar explosive power, strength, quickness and agility she possesses which gained her stardom in rugby. 

Phaidra has dedicated over ten years to professional rugby, traveling all over the globe. She now has the opportunity to achieve the ultimate athletic honor of becoming an Olympian. Translating her compassion and sports celebrity into philanthropy serving others, Phaidra aspires to launch a global nonprofit that will speak to the needs of youth education, fitness and health/wellness. 

Phaidra needs your support and donations to help fund her training. She travels to Lake Placid and Park City to train with U.S. Bobsled Team members. In order to spend the necessary time and costly expense to train with the best coaches and trainers, Phaidra will need to forfeit her job and commit herself 100%. She has set a training budget of 50K, but every contribution will be valuably utilized.

To complete this journey tangibly, Phaidra desires to be in the position to invite her supporters to join her in Sochi, Russia in 2014. For those who cannot be present, Phaidra has constructed memorable signature gifts related to her sport celebrity including "toRUSSIAwithLOVE” campaign t-shirts, bobsled race suits, bobsled helmet, U.S. Rugby jerseys and rugby balls) to mention a few. She also will be acknowledging the friends and organizations that support her on the various media outlets she will be appearing.

In the event that Phaidra cannot participate on the Olympic Team, remaining funds will be donated to the Women’s Sports Foundation. 

This journey is really about helping Phaidra help others--to help put her in a position to inspire and positively influence kids. Phaidra is rallying positive individuals to support and take this journey with her which will be kindly reciprocated through her commitment to abolishing childhood obesity and related health-wellness issues.
