A teacher at the notoriously underfunded Miskatonic University Daycare Centre sends her charges off to sleep with a story from the Necronomicon (it was the only book she could find in the library that had pictures...)
Through her not-quite-carefully-edited-enough account, we follow the dread Tiny Cthulhu on his travels through mind-blasting vortexes of madness and adorableness on his way to rain inevitable and cuddly doom on a blissfully unsuspecting humanity.
...Sleep well, kids...
Are you puzzled by the lack of 3D platform games for PC, Mac, and/or Linux...?
Are you further bemused by the lack of games that blend 3D platforming and 3rd-person-shooting together with Jazz-Age-pulp-inspired Eldritch Abomination from beyond this cosmos and angled space itself...?
Of course you are. We ALL are.
'Tiny Cthulhu' is an upcoming game for PC/Mac/Linux from developer THEORY32.
After two years of development, the game is now at the 'playable demo' stage, but cries out to be extended into a full universe of sanity-shattering abnormalities.
Personally, I like to think of it as the tentacled lovechild of Commander Keen and Quake...
Stages are set in such unmentionable locales as: The Dark Planet Vhoorl, Primal Chaos, The Ghooric Zone, Yuggoth, Pnakotus, R'Lyeh, Modern Earth, and many more.
Monsters include such impious horrors as: Yog-Sothoth, the Mi-Go, The Elder Things, Byakhee, The Deep Ones, Shoggoths, The Great Race of Yith, Nyarlathotep, Shub-Niggurath, and many, many, many more.
Gameplay is a Rachet&Clank-esque blend of 3D Platforming and 3rd-Person shooting. (Check out the area-in-progress footage at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtuR-PEMYN8 for a better idea)
With your support, we can shake the sanity of the overly-cute-yet-somehow-disturbing-platform-game-playing world!
(...And if that isn't a worthy goal, I'd like to know what is...)
More footage, information, screenshots, animation tests, news, and incoherent blatherings (blatherii?) can be had at the official development blog at:
Questions? Post them in the comments section either here or at the blog, or email them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Stay tuned for more updates/screenshots/videos in the weeks ahead!
