THIS IS NOT MY WIFE
Isnt that a weird title for a book featuringyour wife?
Art lovers will immediately recognize Magrittes painting Cei nest pas une pipe in this (you know, with the painted pipe and this is not a pipe written right under it). Because, lets be honest, it is NOT my wife; its a book with pictures of my wife!
This project deals with changes of relationships in the photographs; the shifting from wife to model, from husband to photographer, from mother to lover
This is not my Wife is also a continuation of a book that we published in 2009, titled This is not my Son. This book was a big success and its impact led us to develop this new project.
This is not my Wife will offer you a unique and intimate view on family life through a series of stunning pictures.
Who are we?
Erik van der Weijde is a Dutch photographer, publisher, husband and father of Caetano, currently living in Brazil.
Urs Lehni is a Swiss graphic designer, publisher, husband and father of August, currently living in New York.
We both are very passionate about publishing and our families and we aim to celebrate this in our second publication together.
But, who is the Wife?
is the sweetest Brazilian kindergarten teacher and loving mother of Caetano.
She and Erik met in 1998 and have been together ever since. Apart from probably
being the biggest fan of Eriks work, Ana Lcia also appears in many of his
pictures and she believes she can talk with her cat named Mona Lisa.
What do we need for this project?
we need to cover production costs (U$ 6500) to get the book printed. As paper, printing
and binding keep getting more expensive and subsidies in the arts get more and
more scarce, we decided to reach out and ask you for your help. We have managed to raise U$ 2000 so far, so we are aiming for another U$ 4500 with our campaign.
This way we can put this fantastic book into print without having to charge 100 bucks for it.
We have decided that even if we do not reach our financial goal in time, we will still continue with the project, so you dont have to worry about losing your perks!
How can YOU help?
donation would be greatly appreciated. Please check out our different gifts and
offers to you, as tokens of our gratitude.
Even Caetano, my 10 year old son, is helping by making drawings to offer to you So even if youre not a millionaire, you can help us out!
Another way we could really use your help is by getting this campaign out in the open; share our story on Facebook, G+, Twitter, your blog or website; share it with your friends, colleagues, family, your wife
