2 African female film-makers borrow $5000 to shoot indie short in Bangkok, Thailand... Crazy?  You bet...

SHORT SYNOPSIS

Feisty LA girl Ice Cooper runs away to Bangkok to escape her stalkers and start a new life of peace. But her stalkers follow her with a plan of extortion and murder. Cornered by the two reprobates, Ice is faced with the biggest decision of her life: should she take them down or take them out?

Starring: Damian Mavis (Canada), Leigh Ellen Barwell (UK), Chris Wegoda (UK) and introducing Kirsten Kosmas (USA). 

MEET THE TEAM

Written and Directed by award-winning South African film-maker Amour Setter (www.amoursetter.com), this short film exposes the twisted intentions of two stalkers hell-bent on extortion & murder.  Set against the steamy backdrop of Bangkok, the stalkers get far more than they bargained for in this edgy little international thriller.

When Amour Setter and Moroccan documentary film-maker Selma Tamu met and joined forces in Bangkok in May 2012 to make this film, the wheels were instantly set in motion. Two months later they borrowed $5000 & shot the short 20 minute film (guerrilla-style) in only 2 days with a dynamic & equally passionate team of film-makers, 2 Canon 5D cameras and four actors.   

WHY WE ARE APPEALING TO YOU

Crowd-funding has made it possible for film-makers like us to get our movies made. We took a huge leap of faith with this film in that we borrowed $5000 to make the film, hoping that we would be able to raise that through crowd-funding. We were so passionate about this project that we literally dived in heart & soul.  Were we crazy to take such a huge risk?  Probably, but when you are driven by passion and a deep & abiding love for what you do, taking risks is part of the game.  Would we take this risk again?  Most definitely!  Even if we don't raise all the money we are aiming for, whatever we do raise will help us get the film through post production and into the film festivals, as we ran out of money once we'd finished shooting.  Currently our film is in Off-line and we need money to move it beyond that and get it finished.

THE IMPACT

With your help we will be able to complete & enter this film into all the major international film festivals, as well as arrange private screenings in LA, Cape Town and Bangkok. By doing this we will bring more focus to the indie film scene in Thailand and hopefully attract more international film producers to Thailand.  Our completed film will also encourage other emerging film-makers to follow their dreams and make their own home-grown films in their own countries, proving that platforms like this can help make dreams come true.
