THEATREdART is about to launch what is by far our most daring, challenging, and ambitious season ever and we need your help. For the past 8 years we have been endeavoring to bring Colorado Springs an alternative view of theatre, and function as theatre evangelists bringing those who would normally never consider attending a show in to the fold. THEATREdART is also committed to producing original work by local writers, producing 9 world premieres since 2003, and producing 2 more in Season 5.
Speaking of Season 5, I have never, in my time as Artistic Director been as excited about a season as I am about Season 5. We are producing 9, yes NINE shows next season, and they range from hyper-experimental, to classical, to contemporary, and it might be hubris, but I would go so far as to say we have the most exciting and dangerous season in town.
Artistic Director, THEATREdART
Our Mission Statement:
THEATREdART is dedicated to enriching the arts community in Southern Colorado by staging bold and challenging plays that would otherwise not be seen locally. Furthermore THEATREdART believes theatre to be a vital and relevant part of the cultural landscape of our region and works diligently to bring a new audience to this vibrant and engaging art form; challenging preconceived notions of what theatre is and can be. THEATREdART values diversity in art and all other forms of expression and does not discriminate based on sex, race, age, creed, religion, or sexual-orientation. We continually strive to improve ourselves and the artistic environment of Southern Colorado and will continue to produce theatre that is engaging to us and our audience.
THEATREdART is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profits arts service organization. Contributions for the purposes of THEATREdART must be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
THEATREdART is committed to bringing new, younger audiences in the Pikes Peak region in to the theatre. By producing shows outside of the mainstream locally, and aggressively marketing to the 16-35 demographic, we hope to create a new generation of passionate, engaged theatre audiences and practitioners. We also endeavor to generate and produce new work, producing new work by local writers, and encouraging new and aspiring writers, actors, designers, and directors to get their feet wet with our annual short-play festival Theatregasm.
What We Need & What You Get
THEATREdART has been a self-sustaining entity for the last five years, weve struggled to keep costs down so we can keep our ticket prices low. With our recent move to our new space, rent, equipment purchases, and renovation costs have all been pretty brutal on our bank account. As I type this, we have roughly a $5000 budget shortfall on Season 4. Any money donated will go towards production budgets, performance rights, and rent.
