Wow that was a long video huh? We wanted to show you just how good it can be...
This is an artistic experiment. I am filming a household of everyday people that live very unique lives. It also helps that they live in one of the most interesting houses ever! The Treehouse is located in Portland Oregon and well known for throwing house shows and poetry slams. What isn't so well known are the people who reside in it and their most fascinating endeavors in life. From an awarded poet, to a small business owner to a band about to launch their second west coast tour the lives of these individuals are as inspiring as they are entertaining.
Does comedy have to be scripted and engineered? No! So I have spent 6 months with this crew of talent and laughs to put together a unique film that will beget an evening of unfiltered raw grassroots comedy. The household has agreed to let me and my cameras invade and record. I think that aside from lots of great (maybe even tearful laughter?) the lives of these people might inspire others to do something unique, maybe even strange... much like the folks at the Treehouse.
The twist is that these raging Portlander's are going to start a business (a surprise reserved for the first of 4 video updates throughout the campaign). They will transition out of party house into a small grassroots business serving the locals of Portland. There will be struggle, conflict and emotions all the while during quirky lifestyles that beg to be discovered. When this is finished I hope to present something fresh and provocative to the entertainment world, something that raises the bar for independent comedies. Everyone living at the Treehouse has personal ambitions that span the limits of creativity and this spotlight will only aid their success.
When the film is finished we will release it on a web platform that links to an array of community resources, businesses and artists. We will also broadcast a livestream from inside the house where the business operates so you can tune in any time and watch as events develop!
What can you expect to see in the film? Lot's of quality local music, art, poetry, hilarity along with a bit of grassroots and business education... albeit Portland style.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that this IndieGoGo can raise 10,000 dollars that we need to purchase the final equipment which is:
Improved sound recording equipment
A computer to edit the final film
A professional sound technician for edit
Web design and hosting
Promotional budget and distribution resources
If this is successfully funded, it is possible that a whole new kind of indie-film could emerge, perhaps a brand or who knows what? None the less a funny documentary about real people, and the very real things (sometimes unbelievably) that they encounter will emerge.
OH DID WE FORGET TO MENTION?
WHEN THE MOVIE IS COMPLETE IT WILL BE HOSTED FOR FREE STREAMING ON THE TREEHOUSE WEBSITE!
THE SOUNDTRACK IS PRODUCED BY BATH PARTY!
If you can help in anyway you can buy donating or sharing our project we will love you forever. We already love you for reading this far... but "forever" is where it is really at!
