Not familiar with the Stonewall Riots? For many, this single moment in 1969 was the flashpoint for the modern gay movement. It was the first time members of the homosexual community were not content to be treated as second class citizens-forced “into a closet” by an intolerant public. Facing persecution, prosecution and a violation of their civil rights, the LGBTQ community was mad as hell and they weren't going to take it anymore. The events at Stonewall lead to riots and demonstrations to open the dialogue and fight for the basic human rights of the LGBTQ community.

44 Years later the gay community is still fighting to achieve some basic human rights. But it started with Stonewall. And to commemorate the brave and prideful step forward, Bluewater Productions (the independent comic book leader in biography titles), in partnership with pop culture artist Michael Troy (“A Minute With Margot” and “The Gays on Film”), is launching a project to offer a detailed account of the birth of movement as a graphic novel.

So why a comic book?
It’s a unique medium. It blends words and art like no other. It can give a human face to history. As with other non-fiction and biography books, it presents the context of an important historic event in an impactful and artistic way. For others it creates a gateway for the reluctant reader. For others still it is a bridge to the next generation of young gay men and women to understand the struggles of the past and appreciate just how far we’ve come….and how fabulous we all are!
What We Need & What You Get.
In order to bring this story properly to life, we need to raise the necessary funds to pay for such critical services as a top notch printing, marketing and distribution. We are dedicated to make sure that Stonewall is not just a small, forgotten footnote.
To those who are fortunate to have found a partner in a union that is recognized by the state you live in, remember, there was a time that a gay man or woman was shunned, forced to live a lie, or even put away in sanitariums and prisons. Our graphic novel of the Stonewall Riots is a way to pay tribute to those who paved the way and paid a price for Gay Pride. We're still here. We're still queer. You had better get used to it.
So we are asking you for support: whatever you can afford to “kick start” this campaign. And as a thank you we have assembled a variety of cool swag (snap, snap!).
