THE SHUTTLEWORTHS - ANIMATED FILM
It’s been an award winning BBC Radio show, and John Shuttleworth (aka Graham Fellows) has made countless TV appearances and played live to sell-out audiences across the country for many years but we now stand on the verge of a new creative era for John, as he and all his family and friends are set to become an animated half-hour film. If you’ve ever wondered what Ken Worthington’s afro really looks like, now is your chance to not only find out, but to be a key part of this historic moment yourself.
We've made a test scene (this will also be in our finished film) that's available to view on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udrLLFnRkwU but our ambition is to make a half-hour film.
We’ll stay resolutely faithful to the heart and soul of all things Shuttleworth – characters we’ve known and loved for many years – but we’ll also be able to expand this world and give storylines to everyone within it. We've written a brand new story for John and Ken and all the others, but it also includes some new characters too, such as the wonderfully flawed Peter Cornelius, the dodgy salesman. Graham has recorded the track so this is now ready to animate to, but we need funds with which to do this....we need your help!
This half-hour film will be written and performed by Graham Fellows, animated and directed by Kevin Baldwin (‘2DTV’, ‘Monkey Dust’) and produced by Will Yapp (‘500 Bus Stops’).
Is this going to be a British "The Simpsons"? No. Is this going to be a British "King of the Hill"? No. It’s going to be "The Shuttleworths".
WHAT WE NEED AND WHAT YOU GET
Animation is obviously highly labour intensive and as a result it’s expensive. We need $50,000 (our budget is £30,000) to make this film, with a large part of this going on just the animation itself, which will take Kevin and his team of animators approximately 4 months to complete.
Shuttleworth fans - and I should know because I’ve been a card-carrying member for twenty years myself – are a dedicated and loyal bunch. It’s hard to imagine another comic creation ever inspiring the feeling of fraternity and kinship that "The Shuttleworths" does. We would love you to be a part of this massive moment in their history, and in return for your contribution we would love to reward you with perks both tangible and highly memorable.
The perks are listed in US dollars because that's the Indiegogo way but we've listed the costs in British pounds too, using the exchange rate on the BBC website listed on 19th October, 2012.
Could this be the ultimate Xmas gift for The Shuttleworth fan in your life? Well very possibly YES! They might not receive the actual gift itself until June next year, but think of it as a John Shuttleworth style Red Letter Day envelope to open on December 25th!
Our aim is to use the finished film in several ways:
1. We'll use it as a completed pilot that we can send to British broadcasters in the hope that they will commission a series.
2. We'll also enter it into film festivals in this country and abroad.
3. We'll also put the film on Itunes and other download sites in the hope that we might make enough money back to continue producing further episodes regardless of how Number 1 on the list goes (ie. regardless of whether broadcasters buy the idea of a series or not)
