The Quarrelsome Yeti Needs a new Press

WHAT'S THE QUARRELSOME YETI? 

The Quarrelsome Yeti is a small screenprint, apparel and design business based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My name is Geordan, and I'm the owner/operator. I design, print, and sell all of the stuff in the Quarrelsome Yeti catalogue. 

I started this business becase my two creative passions are printmaking, and illustration. I learned how to screenprint years ago in art school, and I sold my screenprints at art sales, and craft shows for a while, after hearing "Dude you should totally put that on a t-shirt" for the thousandth time I decided to give it a try. And here we are.

When I started the Quarrelsome Yeti I was fortunate enough to hook up with a fellow Haligonian artist who was in the t-shirt business, and looking for a studio-mate. I've been working with her in the same studio for the last two years and it's been amazing.

My studiomate/landlord Eleanor has been a great friend, and mentor, and I wish I could stay and share the space for longer. Unfortunately, I am moving out of the city, and I'll just be too far from the studio for it to work out. 

This means that the time has come for the Quarrelsome Yeti to set up a print shop all its own. I have a lot of the things that the studio needs, screens/ squeegies / an exposure unit ect, and I have a space to set up the shop. But there are a few larger pieces of equipment that I absolutely need to get everything up and running. Most importantly I need a new 4 Colour t-shirt press. Nothing fancy, just a simple manual press, and a couple of other things which I've listed below. 

WHAT I NEED

If we can reach the funding goal of $5500, I should have enough to cover the cost all the equipment that I need. If we can exceed that goal, I'll use the extra funds to upgrade some of my existing equipment. Here's what the stuff I need  looks like, and what it does:

A NEW PRESS! (MOST IMPORTANT)

The machine that I use now is a little more heavy duty than the one pictured here, but the principal is the same. This machine holds up to four screens & allows the printer to print multiple colours onto garments so that they line up perfectly. 

A DRYING RACK 

These racks are for drying out printed flatstock after printing. When I make my posters now I usually lay them out all over the studio floor to dry. If I can get one of these, I can print more posters, faster, and risk less damage.

A FLASH DRYER

This machine is used to quickly dry ink after it has been printed onto shirts. It makes printing multiple colours much faster and easier. Currently when I print multiple colours on shirts, I use a hand held heat gun and it's quite time consuming. 

A COUPLE OF RACKS

To hang shirts on after I print them.

EXTRA EXCLUSIVE BONUS

Once the new studio is ready to rock, I am planning an extra special, T-shirt of the month subscription project. Indiegogo supporters will have the first opportunity to get one of the limited subscriptions before I do the official release in August.

Subscribers have the option of a Full subscription (12 tees), Half subscription (6 tees), or Quarter subscription (3 tees).

You will get a unique shirt every month, each shirt designed, and printed by me. All of the designs in the series will be unified (loosly) by a theme.

For this first series, the theme will be Cryptids.

All shirts are printed on American Apparel blanks. Typically I use the 50/50 cotton poly ts but on occasion I'll use the fine jersey, or the tri-blends depending on the colour I want. Unisex and ladies sizes will be available.
