Trapshot Archives, a small press located in Montreal, looks to promote emerging artists and writers as they put together their first cohesive bodies of work. Our aim is to call attention to Canadian creatives, help them put their best foot forward, and distribute their work into the hands of their supporters--people a lot like yourself.
As engaged members in the literary/arts community here in the city, we view this collaboration, promotion, publishing and distribution as a way of encouraging young creatives to succeed. Expressly, we offer an avenue to appreciate the celebrate the great work people are doing, and we'd love your support in continuing this effort.
Last year's books were sold locally, across cities, nationwide; shipped to Brooklyn, San Fransisco, London; found themselves on bookshelves as far as South Africa and South Korea. They were reviewed intimately by Montreal art blogs, and spotlit by renowned design hubs.
We hope to do the same with our two new gorgeous books, Gleb Wilson's "The Plan" and Frankie Barnet's "Something Disgusting Happening"--with cover art work by Toronto artist Liam Crockard, of O'Born Contemporary Gallery. Each contains three original short stories that evoke, provoke and capture something subtle, something daring, and something a little too-true.
To get the nitty-gritty on the books, you might want to read what I wrote here.
What We Need & What You Get
To do so, we're going to need a little help. JP King, mastermind behind Toronto's best indie print shop, Paper Pusher Press, is making us our books using risograph printing--a technique that can only be described as a mix between photocopying and screenprinting. The result is a unique, crisp and beautiful finish--and one that costs substantially less than how "real" books are made. It's about $600 to print up the books, $150 to pay Liam for his collaging, and $50 to shoot JP some extra love for the time he's put into this project.
The perks. Think of Indie Go Go as a way of pre-ordering your copies. Donate $10 and you're the first to have a copy of "The Plan" or "Something Disgusting Happening." If you donate $20, you'll receive both new publications as well as a limited-run 11x18" poster by Mr Crockard that looks a little like this:
And for $50, you get both of the new books + the poster, as well as the three books from last year:
- "Prolix" is a series of photos by David Zilber ($10)
- "L'Anonyme" is a collections of drawings by Erika Altosaar (signed, $20)
- "Sullied" a series of poems by Zoe Sharpe (sold-out, priceless)

Other Ways You Can Help
If you simply can't contribute, there are other ways you can help this happen: Share our project with your friends: word-of-mouth, Facebook, Twitter--anything would be lovely. Thanks in advance!
