How Pie (and a Short Film) Can Bring Peace, Love, and Healing

As an award-winning photographer, and as a pie lover, discovering the Pie-O-Neer Cafe in Pie Town, New Mexico was an inspiration on multiple levels. I directed this short film about proprietor Kathy Knapp and her surroundings because I wanted to create, through film, what Kathy creates through pie: a little slice of happiness.

Dick Rosemont (producer/husband) and I observed as Kathy made and served pie that, for her, it is a vehicle for love, peace, healing and home. Her own transition from a happy, comfortable, Dallas housewife/business partner to the pie lady in the middle of nowhere is an uplifitng story of passion and perseverance. 

The fact that Pie Town is a remote place among remnants of the Old West with characters that seem like they are right out of....well, a movie... adds to the allure: the skinny Santa Claus, the zombie, the Toaster House Lady....they are all there.

You can use this site to follow the progress of the project. But to create even a short film takes a lot of time and money. Indiegogo helps the film reach a larger audience and makes your participation easy. We need to raise $10,000 to complete the film and make it available to you and to film festivals around the world. We personally make nothing from this. Money raised will pay for the cameramen and the editor, original music, sound and music production, transportation, equipment rental, duplication, film festival fees, licensing and legal fees - it all adds up quickly.

Donation perks vary and include a Pie-O-Neer mug, digital download/hard copy of the film, and screen credit from "Thank You" to "Executive Producer." You could even be flown into Albuquerque from anywhere in the continental USA, driven to Pie Town by Dick and me, have a party in your honor at the Pie-O-Neer Cafe AND have a pie named after you. Now that's something you can sink your teeth into!
