"The Other One" is a feature film exploring the journey of child becoming parent by exploring the role of caretaker to elderly family members. As her mother is now in the throws of dementia, Amber, the lead character in the film, will begin to deal with grief of her mother's impending death and the death of the life she used to know before coming home to take care of her mother, all the while discovering the truth to her older brother's mysterious death when she was a child.
The Other One will explore the modern topics of caretaking and survival of gun violence. This film seeks to encourage more conversation about these modern day realities for millions of people and encourage resilience and forgiveness even in the darkest of times.
With 65.7* million US citizens caring for someone ill, 52 million caring for adults with disabilities, and 43.5 million caring for the elderly 50+ and 14.9 million of those dealing with elderly suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia, we strongly feel The Other One will resonate with the public audience. With the down economy and the independent baby boomer generation approaching retirement, many have preferred to stay in their homes or move back in with their family and this population will surely continue to grow.
