ABOUT SF NOIR FILMS

I'm Dante Betteo, producer and director of The Other Barrio, a Noir feature film about greed… corruption… the clash of cultures… and justice… shot on location in San Francisco and produced by SF Noir Films, the independent film production company headed by myself and Lou Dematteis. Lou and I have been producing media for over 25 years in television, radio, print, documentary film and on the internet. We are proud to introduce our latest project, The Other Barrio, shot primarily in San Francisco’s Latino Mission District.

ABOUT THE FILM

The film stars Richard Montoya from the critically acclaimed theater troupe Culture Clash as Roberto Morales, a city housing inspector investigating the suspicious circumstances of a fatal residential hotel fire in the Mission who finds himself face-to-face with corruption at City Hall, his own demons and a beautiful flame from his past, played by Veronica Valencia.

The Other Barrio is based on the short story of the same name written by San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, and continues a long history of Film Noir productions shot in San Francisco including The Maltese Falcon, Dark Passage and The Lady from Shanghai.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

In July of this year, we shot the first round of principal photography, comprising approximately 60% of the film. We need to raise funds in the amount of $60,000 to finish our shooting and take the film to post production..

This is where you come in. We have a truly compelling story that deals with real life issues such as gentrification and dislocation, a dynamic cast including Montoya, Valencia, James Hiser, Melinna Bobadilla and Philip Kan Gotanda, music performed by Latin Jazz legend Jerry Gonzalez, music and sound design by seven time Grammy nominee Greg Landau, and one of the greatest cities in the world as our backdrop. We need your financial support to finish our shooting and help us complete the film. We can’t do it without you.
