The ODK Circle Legacy Campaign at Oglethorpe University

Leadership Matters 

Each fall, hundreds of students come to the Oglethorpe University campus seeking the skills that will help them to “make a life, make a living, and make a difference.”  While all of the students at Oglethorpe will leave with the requisite expertise to make a positive contribution to their respective communities, there are some who become true leaders.  

It is the mission of O∆K to publicly recognize and support these individuals for their accomplishments and excellence in leadership.  We are the most selective group on campus and among the most selective honor societies in the nation.  Membership in O∆K is considered one of the highest achievements that a student, alumni, staff or faculty can receive from Oglethorpe University.  

O∆K is an essential part of the culture of leadership at Oglethorpe University.  Our members set the example for other leaders and organizations on campus and in the community. In turn, those organizations and their members strive to attain the high-standards set by O∆K members.  Thus, the overall level of leadership on campus and in the Oglethorpe University community is greatly enhanced.  It is our efforts as a recognition and mentoring society that make us an essential cornerstone of campus life.  

However, we cannot foster this culture of excellence alone.  We need your help to keep the traditions and operations of O∆K strong and thriving.  As a contributor to the O∆K Circle Legacy Campaign, your donation will greatly enhance our ability to spread the word about O∆K.  Your contribution will enable the Circle to:

• facilitate more events, with better tools, that mentor and foster leadership;
• provide small scholarships and awards for emerging freshman and sophomore leaders; 
• partner with the newly-formed Jacobs Society, spreading leadership values among the entire student body;
• continue to properly honor our new members in an induction ceremony that is infused with dignity and tradition; 
• induct more alumni members and honoris causa members; and
• maintain the historical legacy and historical materials of O∆K for decades to come. 

This is a very exciting time for O∆K.  This past year we have grown as a national organization faster than at any other point in our history.  And with your help, it will be exciting to see the O∆K Circle at Oglethorpe continue to grow and thrive.  A successful campaign will ensure the lasting legacy of O∆K at Oglethorpe.

PS - The Hard Numbers and Notes

As a donor you have a right to know how your money is being spent.  O∆K is an organization that runs on imagination and initative.  Our leaders are constantly looking for new ways to instill the virtues of leadership in the Oglethorpe community.  Thus, it is impossible to say how every dollar will be spent by the members in the future.  

That being said, below you will find a projection of disbursements and expenses for this coming academic year based on $1,200 budget: 

• Honorary and Alumni Membership Induction Fees - $200;
• Last Lecture: Food, Drinks and Gift - $200;
• Advertising and Awareness - $100; 
• Induction Ceremony Decorations and Expenses - $200; 
• Gifts of Appreciation and Retirement - $100;
• Emerging Leaders Awards - $300; and 
• Administrative Fees - $100.

Needless to say, the more that is awarded, the stronger and more creative your O∆K Circle can be.  Our student members are innovative leaders and there is no telling how your support will unleash their potential.  

As well, your contribution will be accounted for in accordance with the professional nature of O∆K.  We are an organization that is non-secret and your contribution will be administered openly among the O∆K membership.  This transparency will ensure that every dollar we collect will be utilized with maximum possible efficiency.  

*For a tax receipt donate via PayPal.  Receipts will be sent ASAP from the Oglethorpe University business office. 

**Donations that are above $125 from non-O∆K members will receive the $125 perk only.
