The Inventors Warehouse Creative Space

Shared creative space, "maker place" and technology business accelerator aimed at the hardware space.

EXEC SUMMARY-

We are establishing a membership based shared creative workspace and small business accelerator designed to assist entrepreneurs, inventors, hobbyists and product designers.  The facility will provide our members access to cutting edge technology and equipment, such as the 3D color printer in the video above.

We will use the funding we raise for the first year's lease payments on an industrial property in Phoenix, AZ and to buy equipment for the facility.

Your financial support will have a multipurpose and dynamic impact through:

  • Supporting entrepreneurs, artists, inventors, university and college students and other creative types with an affordable workspace.
  • Supporting new small business job creation at a time when we badly need good economic news.
  • Supporting sustainable development through preserving historical buildings which are often demolished in lieu of being recycled and repurposed.
  • Creating community redevelopment activity which will serve disadvantaged citizens of a blighted part of inner city Phoenix.
  • Supporting increased renewable energy and sustainable development through our facility’s use of solar and wind power.

Please consider supporting our project, even if it is only one dollar.  As an added bonus for your support, we will give you USAIRWAYS Dividend Miles for donations of at least $50 and above!  If you can't offer financial help, we would love to earn your support with an “in-kind” donation of your time.  Please help spread the word about our project and what we are trying to achieve using the Indiegogo sharing tools, social media and your personal and professional networks.

DETAILED BACKGROUND-

The Inventors Warehouse offers access to specialized tools which will support the entrepreneur, inventor, small technology company and "DIY" hobbyists. We will support the small business owner who wants to build a prototype of an idea; an artist who wants to design and build with metal or wood; or an aspiring inventor who wants to build a custom R&D project but does not have access to the proper tools.

Members will pay a monthly access fee analogous to the proven gym membership business model where members pay to use specialized pieces of expensive work out equipment. The monthly fee of $150 will allow personal, non-commercial use of the tools and machinery on a first come, first served basis.

Examples of equipment we will offer will include wood working saws, sanders, drill presses and related equipment one might see in a high school wood shop. In addition, we intend to offer metal working tools such as welders, computer numeric controlled (CNC) plasma cutters, and related equipment. We will also house the latest generation of desk top CNC machine tools, 3D printers, and other tool sets which will enable cost effective research and development of prototypes in a wide variety of materials.

The video above shows the incredible capabilities of one of our in-house 3D printers using common every day copier paper to print out 3D objects in full color.  Our members will be able to utilize our high tech tools to product a prototype of a new product idea, develop a piece of artwork, or print a model for display in an important project pitch.

Real world examples of a few of the current projects that the Inventors Warehouse is supporting include the ongoing hybrid electric custom car development project shown in the photo above; helping an inventor develop and build his patented energy recovery device; and helping a software/hardware developer to roll out his innovative new products aimed at the retail space.  With your support, we can move into our new facility will enable us to help many more aspiring inventors, entrepreneurs and inner city youth among others.

WHY SHOULD YOU FUND US?

Our project will have tremendous impact via new job creation in an inner-city area in need of revitalization; community redevelopment through the recycling and reuse of a derelict industrial brownfield property; and vocational training in multiple high tech fields for underserved members of the community such as US veterans, unemployed or underemployed, and inner city youth.

Historical properties in Arizona are disappearing at an alarming rate.  In just the past few months, a Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece designed for his son David Wright faced demolition.  It still might if someone does not step forward to purchase the property and preserve it. In downtown Phoenix, an investment group recently demolished several historical structures to make way for new shops and parking.  Sad, but all too true.

The Inventors Warehouse in Phoenix will be located along a light rail public transit corridor which will allow us to cost effectively serve ASU students, high schools and residents in the entire downtown Phoenix area.

PROJECT TEAM-

The project team leader is a sitting board member of the City of Maricopa, AZ Industrial Development Authority (IDA), and board elected Treasurer of the IDA.  In addition, he has been a lifelong entrepreneur involved with several construction and construction related industries.  The experience and professional network of the project team assure that the project will move forward successfully if we can attract additional start-up capital.

We are trying to take the hard road of repurposing brownfield projects in inner city areas, and use renewable energy to power our facility.  These types of projects are extremely difficult to obtain financing from the conventional banking world, so we desperately need your help to make this project a reality.
