So what the heck is The Hit Squad?

The Hit Squad is an animated comedy movie about an 80's band. The movie is made with 8 bit animation, meaning it totally looks like the 80's too!

What is this all about?

Roddy Stones and his band 'The Hit Squad' were the worlds biggest band in the 80s, now they're in 2012 they have run out of money, dignity and cocaine. They haven't released a hit record in years. The world has moved on and the corporate Scourge Studios are going to buy The Hit Squad's studio unless the band can raise $1 Million within a week.

Who is making this movie?

  • Chris Blundell - creator / director, been making short animations online through YouTube and Machinima. Created The Hit Squad 5 years ago

  • Jordan Fuller - producer / co-writer, seasoned comedy writer and part-time drummer

  • Laura Mulhern - assistant producer, head of Southwest Artwork, Laura is very very Irish

  • Ana Franca - assistant producer, Ana deals with press, PR and Portugal.

Where does the money go? What do I get?

We're tying to raise at least $25,000 to pay everyone involved with the film, we have a team of animators, a composer, director, actors, production team, recording studios. We're doing this on a completely minimal budget, pulling favours from friends and generally working flat-out to get this movie made.

If we don't hit our goal then the movie will still be made, but it will take longer than it should. To get this movie made we need YOUR help!

If you contribute, then there are loads of cool perks you can get including DVDs, Posters, Tickets to the premiere, or you can even be IN the movie.

Wait... I can be IN the movie?

If you choose the 'Be In The Movie' perk or the 'Speak In The Movie' perk, then email a photo of yourself to chris@ilovethehitsquad.com and we will pixellate you and put you in the movie as a character. 

So, what happens when you raise the money?

Regardless of how much money we make from this we will make the movie. If we raise the full amount then we will be able to make it the way it was intended to be made...

After crowdfunding, we'll begin production immediately. We'll document what is happening along the way with video and blog posts. When we're finished, we'll prepare it to be released later this year.

We have a distributor who will be releasing the movie in cinemas in the UK, as well as worldwide on DVD, iTunes, YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, LoveFilm and Amazon. It will be available worldwide on all platforms from day 1.

I don't have any money, what else can I do to help?

The perks start from just $5! But if you really have zero money, then getting the word out to blogs and press will help enormously. Ask your friends to contribute, email your favourite blogs and news sites and let them know about the movie and that you think they should feature it.
