The Hermit

A young girl hurt by her father's alcoholism and abusive ways, meets an mysterious drifter that proves to be a glimmer of light.

 Story

The Hermit is the coming of age story that focuses around a man who has become so disenchanted with the world around him that he has chosen to remove himself from it, and a little girl with a drunk and abusive father who is searching for her own escape. Together they just might find the salvation they have both been searching for.

Our Cast and Crew

Our cast has been comprised of some amazing local talent including Charles Auten a talented and up and coming character actor. Terrie Batson of Cyborg fame, Gray Hawks who was recently seen in the locally shot American Warships, and an amazing young lady by the name of Mia Clark. You might recognize Mia from playing a young Diane Lane in Nights in Rodanthe, and We have no doubt you will see plenty more of her in the future.

The people who have come together to make this film have ranged from Jim Choate who graciously did an amputee f/x for us at cost, three amazing makeup artists Danielle Heberling, Jamie Warzel, and Ash Crist, that worked hard to make sure we always had powder and recreated each others work perfectly, and countless businesses and other professionals who worked tirelessly to ensure that we had all the props, costuming, and consultation to make every scene and set as realistic as humanly possible.

Our Goals

Our hope is to ride the festival circuit, and eventually find distribution.

We’ve started this campaign to achieve several goals. The first being to try and recoup the expenses thus far, you’d be amazed at how much we’ve done to this point with so little money, but it has been a credit to the amazingly talented people who have come together to make this possible because of their love of film and their belief in this project.

Our second goal is to submit to film festivals. No one festival is super expensive to enter, but we want to role the dice with all the big names as well as some of the local and more quaint opportunities, and in the end that costs money. Money that none of us have to just pull out of the bank. There are no guarantees, but we do believe we have a great product that stands a really good chance at gaining entry into festival settings. You have the ability to help make that possible.

The third goal is to put some funds aside to help pay for travel and expenses once we get accepted into the festivals themselves. I say this as though it will happen because we will affirm that which we want to see become reality.

 How You can Help

Now comes your opportunity to be just as instrumental as these wonderful people have been. It doesn’t take a lot to be involved, every dollar counts, so don’t be afraid that you don’t have enough to help. Also please be so kind as to share this with your friends, so that they too can be a part of what will continue to be an amazing ride. I thank you so much for taking the time to check us out and for every bit of help you give us both monetarily and through spreading the word. As the late Walt Disney said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” Again thank you all so much, and we’ll see you at the movies.
