The Feminine Divine
Ever wondered what feminine spirituality really means? Or how the lack of it is affecting so many cultures and societies? For the women and men who have embarked on the journey of training in service to The Goddess, its like living continuously with only one half of the story. They seek inner truth in a world where caring and compassion seem undervalued in a culture of war, violence and economic pragmatism. This film explores their reconnection with ancient English Goddesses, the creation of the Glastonbury Goddess Temple and their journey through the wheel of the year. We are given unique access to witness and hear from those who are recreating the practise of ritual Goddess worship.
After many years of exploration in Middle Eastern, Asian and Western cultures, I noticed that the absence of feminine spirituality, as part of the story society understands itself by, creates an imbalance between compassion and pragmatism. This film is also the start of my journey into what we know about ourselves as women and men, in connection with our passions, true feelings and connection with the natural environment. This film provides an opportunity to hear a story that has been silent for a very long time
Who I am
My name is Julia Guest. I have been an independent visual story teller for nearly twenty years, working first as a photojournalist and in the last ten years as a documentary film maker. My film 'A letter to the Primeminister, Jo Wilding's Diary" was screened all over the world to much acclaim and won best international documentary from Al Jazeera in 2006. This film is now a full feature length film at the rough cut stage. I now need to spend time with the wonderful story consultant Fernanda Rossi, www.documentarydoctor.com to get the maximum impact of this film working for audiences who are both deeply interested or just simply curious what all this is about. It also needs skilled colour grading, sound mixing, its own website and a helping hand into distribution. $20,000 will get the key elements of this done and anything over will help get the film seen widely.
