I have the intent to open an art gallery focusing on new and emerging artists
I am a watercolor artist living and working in Edmonton, Alberta. What I have noticed over the last few years is that while our city has an excellent culture and appreciation for art and artist, there are not enough spaces to have work shown and purchased.
Why should you help fund me?
Because I intend to treat my artists well. I think everyone should be able to afford original art, regardless of income. the biggest obstacle is that most galleries charge 50 - 70% commission, so in order for an artist to earn anything, the price of the piece has to be high.
Because I intend to only charge 30% commission, and hope to reduce it to 25% between 3-5 years.

All prints will only be available for indiegogo contributors, and will never ever ever be available to anyone else. Ever. The print run will be limited to the amount of contributors in that range.
What Happens if the full amount is not raised?
Plan B (everyone needs one) should I not have enough funds to start a storefront gallery, is to use the funds raised to start a series of Pop Up Galleries -"A Week at the Duxbury" throughout the city.
