Like many guys in my generation, I grew up reading comic books and dreamed of someday drawing my favorite heroes. However, as I got older, I began to realize that the real fun isn't rehashing the same ol' same ol'...the REAL fun is creating your own characters and stories. Not just retreading old Stan Lee and Jack Kirby characters, but BEING YOUR OWN STAN LEE AND JACK KIRBY!
So, I am a SELF-PUBLISHER, which means I have the freedom to tell whatever story I wish and draw it how I see fit. This also means I am financially responsible for getting my stories published. As a Junior High Art teacher and father of 2, this can prove to be...difficult.
This IndieGoGo campaign will help me publish a comic book that is fun, original, and important; without spending my kids' college fund! People who donate will be supporting the independent spirit that makes this country great gives the little guy a fighting chance in this competitive market!
Help that little kid daydreaming of making his own comics realize his dream!
What We Need & What You Get
I am asking for $1500, which is no small amount. So every dollar helps. This money will go strickly for printing the comic book. I am not going to use the money to suppoprt my family or my Scotch habit. I will be starting off with a small print run of a FULL COLOR comic book, and the $1500 will help that happen!
I am offering some pretty cool incentives, things that I would dig as a comic book fan. Everything from signed copies of the book, prints of the cover signed by myslef and cover artist Jeff Herndon, original art by me, and your chance to be featured in a page of the comic book!!!
The Con Job is just like Oceans 11, if it was about 3 geeks getting revenge for the wrongs of the past and it took place at a comic convention instead of Vegas!
This is a story for anyone who believes in creator owned rights and standing up against giant corporations that use the ideas of artists to make billions, chew them up, and spit them out.
My first self published graphic novel Kidnapping Kevin Smith was very well recieved world wide and made a name (albiet small) for me in the comics world. Hopefully the Con Job will continue this success.
Other Ways You Can Help
