Hey everyone! Carmen here, looking for support for a GREAT creative collaboration of students of Mills College and others!
This short film (about 10-15 mins) follows Lilith, the leader of a camp of survivors of the apocalypse. She stealthily roams the cliffs of the Sutro Baths, wiping out "strays" of infected on the deserted beach. But even she can't protect everyone. With a plan to reach the island Alcatraz, it's uncertain who, in this day of darkness, will make it to salvation.
Here's a little about us:
Carmen Veronica (Director): A senior, Intermedia Arts Major, at Mills College. She's 21 years old and interested in becoming a Director, editor and cinematographer. Also active in the performing arts, Carmen uses her background in dance, theater and music, to contribute to her art practice. She has directed various other productions including a music video for the band The Judy Experience. The Book of Lilith is her first large-scale production and she hopes to bring this interdisciplinary collaboration to completion.

Maggie Cummings (Writer/Collaborator): a junior Creative Writing Major at Mills. She didn't discover her love of writing until she was a junior in high school when she unexpectedly won 1st place in an essay contest. Now she’s studying Creative Writing at Mills College and is in the process of writing her own novel. Her horror obsession began much earlier though, before she had even started grammer school. This obsession has evolved into a secret desire to own a haunted house in San Francisco and make horror films with Carmen Elster
What We Need & What You Get
We’re looking to make this production professional and with high production value. Here are some things we need:
MAKEUP: Zombie movies need a lot of special effects makeup. Your contribution will help get us the makeup and application and removal materials.
FESTIVAL ENTRY FEES: We want to make sure this gets seen as many places as possible. However, entering festivals costs anwhere from $30 to $50 per entry. You can help us get entered to be screened!
CATERING: The way we compensate people for their hard work on set is by providing a meal. Catering is one of the biggest costs in our budget (around $75 minimum) and during shoots we get SO HUNGRY!
WALKIE TALKIE HEADSETS: Communicating on set is essential, especially in a big space like the Sutro Baths. We are looking to get 4 walkie talkie headsets for the crew to make the shoot run smoothly
-As a contributor, you will be credited as a donor and producer depending on the level of contribution.
-And finally, if our final goal is not reached, we will still use the money for all listed above and more! We wil continue taking donations until May 2013, So if you get a little extra income at any point, why not contribute to artists looking to create!!
As many of us are Mills College students, we are striving to create a better example in the world and promote knowledge and acceptance of different people. Our cast features a lead, female, womyn of color, and a genderqueer love story. Our production is inclusive to all people and brings our audience into contact with different identities. The media needs more strong female leads and queer exposure and with this film, we can bring more positive examples to people of all identities.
We are also all artists looking for an outlet for our creativity. This project isn't for school, it's from our own conviction to create. Many of us can use this on our film reels and for IMDb credits. We need your support to make our dream come true on a budget. This film could mean our big break! Be a part of that!
