Hello! it's me, Brent "sorry for the delayed update" K.
So, last time I said I was hoping to have the book done by November. But as you can see by the calendar, it is not November anymore.
Here's an update on where things are at.
The visuals of the book are ALLLLMOST DONE. Just one section left to go and a last lookover. Then, I need to fill in copy, edit it and ship it off to the printers. I have no clue how long it'll take to write, edit and print them since I've never done this before. Will the printing company print them in a day? Will they take 4-6 weeks? How long will it take to ship a thousand books to me? They can't give me a firm date. So I am not even going to post a shipping estimate that will inevitably fly by until I am 100% sure. Actually, I'm saying it'll ship in August! So that way when it ships sooner, it'll be a pleasant surprise, right???
I'm sorry I haven't finished it yet. I know all of you paid valuable money for this, and I am deeply sorry it's taking so long. But it can't possibly go any faster. It just can't. I don't do this fulltime. I am not pocketing a hundred thousand dollars from this. In fact, there's still a chance I may not even break even. But that doesn't change the fact that your money, your love of Glitch, and your time is valuable. Trust me! It makes me sick to my stomach every time I have to post an update that it's not done yet. But I will try to post more updates. I promised that in the past, and time just flies by, but I could try harder in that aspect.
So, I'm not sure what else I can do to help. If you want your money back, please don't hesitate to ask. I would gladly give your hard earned money back. Or leave a snarky comment and you'll get an automatic refund, and I'll offer your book to the next person on the waiting list.
Eeek! Sorry for the delayed posting of an update.
The book is looking amazing, if I do say so myself. I don't know how he does it all, but Kukubee is wearing multiple hats for this project; he's the illustrator, layout artist, copy editor, art director, shipping manager, writer, and purchaser. (Wow, I'm tired just typing that out!) He still has work to do with the final copy, the final chapters, and reviewing everything, but he's been in talks with the printer.
We don’t have a new shipping date yet, but we will be sure to share the information as soon as we a more definite idea of when we will be shipping.
If you're feeling brave, or particularly transcendentally radiant, you can click here for another sneak peek of the book.
Happy Thursday everyone! Unless you live in a country where it's not Thursday. In which case, OH GOD I GOTTA EVENTUALLY SHIP THIS THING TO YOUR CRAZY FAR COUNTRY AND FILL OUT A CUSTOMS FORM LONGER THAN THE ACTUAL BOOK.
As progress on the book continues, I'm leaving a lot of placeholders for quotes. So far I've amassed a metric crapload of great quotes from people who worked on specific parts of the game and still gathering more. But very recently I started leaning the book more and more heavily towards "What Glitch meant" and less about "How we made Glitch".
Jeff S left a Facebook comment suggesting using a quote from a snap for the book and that got me thinking, maybe this Jeff S is on to something. Why not include quotes from you guys??? No one loved the game more than the players so it only makes sense.
My question of the day is,
Do you want to be quoted in The Art of Glitch?
If so, please share a quote about your favorite location, an anecdote about an unforgettable moment, an anecdote about an experience, a joke about salt, anything! Everything will be taken into consideration, and if there's a perfect spot for it, I'd love to throw it in.
And while I have you here,
Eat Pringles brand potato chips today. Pick up a can at your local grocers or wherever you find fine, uniformly sliced, fried potato products.
Oh, and an update wouldn't be an update if I didn't follow it up with a "Crap, I forgot to mention" addendum.
I want to say thanks for the feedback regarding concept art in the book!
What I've decided is to remove concept art that held low relevance to the final look of Glitch. (Don't worry, I'll share them in some form online later so you won't miss out completely) All concept art featured in the book will be accompanied by text explaining its relevance to to Glitch. There'll still be 7.8947368% brand new content to look at, but you'll be given an explanation as to why it deserves your precious ocular time.
Thanks for the feedback and always keep it coming!
Hi! It is 1:02 pm and you know what that means! That's right, it's Irregular Updates Whenever I Effing Remember It o' clock!
We held a poll (Note to self: insert a "held a pole" joke here before clicking "post") a while back asking what your favourite (favoUrite is totally not a typo, Firefox!) locations were. After spending countless minutes (if you can't count higher than 7) tallying up the votes, we're pleased to announce the winning location....
...An Autumn Day!
Which turns out to be one of my personal favourites (again with the red dotted line, Firefox! Enough!) as well. The prize for being deemed the fan favourite? A full page spread in the book! Since space is so limited, it's very hard to warrant any one location receiving two pages to itself. But fear not! Not very many places will. But the quest was important to a lot of people and, hey, it looks damn cool. And the people have spoken!
Special sneak preview:
Which leads me to my next poll(s),
What Groddle street was your favourite, most beautiful, or best represents Groddle in your opinion?
What Firebog street was your favourite, most beautiful, or best represents Firebog in your opinion?
