Join the campaign to publish a practical guide to Anglican Christianity.
UPDATED NOVEMBER 1st
As of November 1st, the Campaign to publish The Anglican Way has met its minimum goal. Praise God, and thanks to all who have already supported us!
That means that we will definitely be able to publish the book, and give the eBook away on Thomas' website. BUT, we aren't done yet. We'd really like to create a professional audiobook, and give it to everyone who supports us at $25 or above.
If we meet our $3000 stretch goal, everyone who supports us at the $25 level or above gets:
- The pre-release eBook;
- The printed book;
- Thomas new Advent devotional ebook by December 1st, 2013;
- AND the digital audiobook.
If you haven't supported the campaign yet, this is the time to do it. Also, please share the campaign with your family and friends. Thank you so much!
OK, back to the basics...
The Bottom Line
Anglican churches are reaching people of every generation and ethnicity with the Gospel. Unfortunately, Anglicanism can be difficult to understand. I've written a practical and personal guide to Anglican worship, theology, and practice. Now, I want to give away as many copies of The Anglican Way as I can.
Praise for The Anglican Way
"The Anglican way of worshipping God and following Jesus is beautiful and effective. But some guidance is needed along the first steps. In The Anglican Way, Thomas McKenzie is a reliable and relatable guide. I highly commend Anglican Way to all those who are exploring an Anglican church."
--Bishop Todd Hunter, author of "The Accidental Anglican," founder of Churches for the Sake of Others, bishop in the Anglican Church in North America.
The Anglican Communion is the third largest body of Christians in the world, and the largest Protestant denomination. It’s one of the most active and fruitful fellowships of churches on the planet. In North America, new Anglican congregations are popping up on a weekly basis. Many thousands of people are joining these churches. In the mid-twentieth century, the American version of the Anglican Church was a sleepy country club. Today, it’s part of an unexpected and amazing worldwide movement of God.
Anglicans Need A Guidebook
My name is Thomas McKenzie. I’m the pastor of a vibrant Anglican church, Church of the Redeemer, in Nashville, Tennesee. The congregation I lead is largely made up of people who were not raised in this tradition. As people join us, they find a beautiful and rich faith, but one that is unfamiliar to most of them. Visitors, newcomers, and members alike often ask me for a guidebook to Anglicanism. Sadly, a thorough and up-to-date introduction to living and worshiping as an Anglican Christian does not exist. That's why I decided to write the book I’ve always wanted to give people.
I grew up in the Anglican Church, I graduated from one of our seminaries, and I've been an ordained priest since 1998. I have been an active part of several Anglican churches, and I've had contact with hundreds more. Nine years ago I became the founding pastor of the congregation I still serve.
Most of my ministry has been with people who aren't familiar with this tradition. They may like this "Anglican thing," but they don't understand it. They're hungry to know more. Whether over coffee, on the internet, in a church sanctuary, or in a classroom, I've had thousands of hours of practice explaining the Anglican Way. Now I'd like to offer that guidance to others.
What I've Done
I have written a guidebook called The Anglican Way. It's a practical and personal guide to Anglican Christianity. It addresses the questions I'm often asked, and it gives the reader a context for what this form of Christianity is all about.
What I Propose To Do
I’ve decided to make this book available for free whenever possible, at least in digital form. The most important thing to me is that people get a chance to read this book. I want it to be a gift to the Church, a gift you can help me to give.
If the Indiegogo campaign is successful, I’ll be able to:
- Have the manuscript professionally proofed and edited.
- Have the book cover professionally designed
- Build and maintain a website that will provide free versions of the eBook.
- Have both the eBook and physical book laid out for publishing.
- Print a run of physical books, with some copies set aside to be given away for free to people who can’t access ebooks.
- Let the world know about the book (marketing).
- Ship physical books.
If we meet the basic goal, we'll be able to provide the eBook free to everyone who asks (though we'll have to sell it on websites that won't let us give it away). We'll also print a run of physical copies. If we exceed the basic goal we’ll be able to print more copies of the book, and give more books away. We hope to record a professional audiobook. To encourage the campaign to go past the basic goal, here are our stretch goals:
If we raise $1500 over the basic goal, everyone who contributes at any level will get an ebook called The Harpoonist. That's my new Advent devotional guide, and you'll get it by December 1st, 2013.
If we raise $3000 over the basic goal, we will professionally produce a digital audiobook of The Anglican Way. Everyone who contributed at the $25 Level or above will get a copy of the audiobook.
If we raise $5000 over the basic goal, we will ePublish My Soul in Silence Waits. That's a guide to Lectio Divina, an ancient form of praying with the Bible. Everyone who backed this project at the $25 level or higher will get a copy. This eBook will be available by Christmas 2014.
If we raise $8,000 over the basic goal, we will give away 200 printed copies of The Anglican Way to people who either can't afford the printed book or don't have access to eBooks.
For every $3000 further ($12,000, $15,000, etc.), we will give away another 200 printed copies of The Anglican Way to people who either can't afford the printed book or don't have access to eBooks.
How Does This Work?
You're invited to join this campaign. You can choose from a variety of pledge levels, each with its own incentives. If the campaign is successful, the book will be published and you will get whatever reward(s) you selected.
If we exceed the minimum goal, we’ll be able to do even more (like printing more books, recording an audiobook and giving away more physical copies), and the rewards will increase.
If we don't make our minimum goal, we will still be able to fulfill all the rewards. That's a promise. However, we won't be able to give the eBook away for free. That would be sad.
Whether you join the campaign or not, please share this page with your friends!
I am thrilled to get this book out there. It's been a dream of mine for many years. I'm grateful to anyone who is willing to help. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and may God bless you.
