The 301 Teddy Bear Project
My name is Beau Dodson and I am the founder of the Shadow Angel Foundation – a 501c 3 Non-Profit. Each year we give away hundreds of new teddy bears to the Child Watch Children’s Advocacy Center and to the Purchase Area Sexual Assault Child Advocacy Center. These two agencies counsel and help abused children. We have been holding these teddy bear projects since 2003.
This is a tangible project that touches real lives. Counselors have told us that children who have received bears in the past gave their bear a name, kept them through the process of healing, and most of all felt a sense of safety and comfort.
Your reward is knowing that a child feels more comfortable talking with a counselor while holding their new friend – the teddy bear. A new teddy bear to hug is a welcome sight for a child who is facing a difficult situation and is often frightened and uncertain.
The bears will be ordered immediately upon funding. 100% of the funding for our project will go towards teddy bears. Our foundation has no overhead costs and is managed completely by volunteers. If we go over our funding then we will order more bears!
Why 301 bears? Because we want you to remember that you can make a difference in one child’s life by the simple act of giving.
We need funding for 301 brand new quality teddy bears. We are purchasing the bears from GUND. This company makes beautiful, soft, and cuddly bears. An average bear for our foundation will cost between $7.00 and $15.00.
The goal of this project is to raise at least $3000.00 to immediately purchase the bears. 100% of the money raised will go towards the purchase of bears.
If you are in an office setting then consider pooling with others around you to help us reach our goal.
If we go over our goal then we will order more bears. The agencies that we partner with need a steady supply of bears. Counselors have told us that the children they work with love the bears that we give to them. The bears bring the children comfort and help them feel safe. This is especially important in a counseling setting or if a child has to appear in a court setting.
Each year thousands of children are abused and neglected. This marks the 11th year the Shadow Angel Foundation has donated bears to local agencies that work with abused children. You can see some of our past teddy bear projects by visiting our web-site at http://www.shadowangelfoundation.org/
You can help impact the life of a child. What may seem small to you or me is actually significant to these children.
Other Ways You Can Help
Don't forget your office can go together as a group to help fund this project. It does not have to be just one individual. Pulling resources will help us reach our goal that much sooner.
You can help us by getting the word out to your friends. Spread the word through social media, through email, and to your family. The Shadow Angel Foundation is a trusted name and has been featured in both print media and television. The foundation has received several awards including the Mark Trail Award which was presented in Washington D.C. We have also been recognized on the floor of the Kentucky State Legislature. Our projects range beyond teddy bear drives. Please visit our web-site for more information on our other projects.
