Texture Contemporary Ballet is based in Pittsburgh and was founded in 2011 by Alan Obuzor. The company was founded with the primary goal of presenting contemporary and neoclassical works.
Recently, our Assistant Artistic Director, Kelsey Bartman, had her work "Stills From Italy" selected for performance at the prestigious White Wave DUMBO Dance Festival in NYC. As with many small arts organizations, money is often an issue. As this is Texture's first opportunity to present work outside of the Pittsburgh area, it is very important to be able to do so. We are looking to raise $3500 to help defray the cost of this trip.
The money raised would help cover costumes, travel expense and per diems. Texture will benefit by this performance in NYC in several ways. First, it gives some of our dancers the opportunity to interact with other people in the industry, outside of our home area. In addition, it gives our company a much larger area of exposure. An event like this can easily lead to future travel performance opportunities, or even help us find new donors and funders to help us continue to present these great works.
Please consider donating, even just $5, as every little bit will help! Watch the video and learn about our organization by visiting our homepage at textureballet.org. Find us on twitter @TextureBallet. Search for us on facebook by name, or follow us on tumblr, user name: TextureBallet.
