Manufacturing Update #8 — LED Assemblies have arrived / Disc tool correction needed!

I wanted to take the time to reach out to you, our loyal Indiegogo backers, with some good news and not so good news on our estimated delivery dates for the Exhale fan.

The Good News! The LED dimmer assemblies have arrived!

The motor plant is currently in production on the upgraded DC motors and installing the LED dimmer assemblies as we speak.

We have also decided to include the LED driver into the motor electronics so that each Exhale fan will be LED ready from day one.

A new remote control has been selected that better fits the sleek style of the Exhale while bringing additional features such as a sleep timer and ‘Level 7’ our answer to those really hot days where you just wish your fan had a turbo button.
Level 7 is an override of the 35 watt energy efficient limit we set and allows the Exhale to really get the air moving by bumping the wattage to 50.
The Bad News!

I was made aware today while doing final testing prior to production that one of our components has an imperfection. The tool used to create the inner discs has a slight misalignment on the stand-off pins causing an imbalance in the final product when assembled. This imbalance causes the fan to wobble slightly from side to side that can be seen from below while the fan is in operation.

What are you doing about it?

Currently the tool is being disassembled and the affected part is being sent back to the machine shop to be fixed. The initial estimates to correct the pins and resurface the tool are 21 working days. Once they are finished we will again resume the 2 week final testing of the corrected tool and balance testing on assembled fans.

Expected new delivery dates.
5/3/2013 — Tool back to the machine shop
6/3/2013 — Testing and tool certification
6/17/2013 — Production
7/6/2013 — Container ships to Exhale Fans in So. Indiana (International orders can start to ship)
8/5/2013 — Shipping of all Indiegogo and preorders to customers door

We at Exhale Fans are striving to manufacture the best quality product available and could not allow the fans to be shipped without taking the time and spending the money to correct this issue. We understand that you are ready for your fans to be delivered; we have an employee on the ground at the manufacturers facility overseeing each step as we move forward to mitigate any further delays.

Best Regards,

Exhale Fans Team

Hello All,

I am pleased to announce that the tooling is finished and will be loaded onto a shipping container in the next few days for its 5-6 week trip back to the USA.

We are excited to get the tooling home to Indiana so we can begin final molding trials and start producing fans.

I would also like to announce that the Exhale fans eStore is up and taking preorders for everyone that missed our campaign. I will be sending eStore coupon codes to everyone in the next week or so to redeem your ‘perks’. (This will allow for the selection of colors, voltage requirements, and shipping)

I would like to thank you all for your continued support and patience as we work through the next couple months building fans.

-Nik

I wanted to take the time to thank you all for your support in the Exhale fan! I have said it before, but we could not have done this without our Indiegogo contributors.

We have made our goal and are excited to continue working toward the Q1 production run. I will be sending out surveys and updates as we progress with the project. Stay tuned!
