What We Believe In
The Techno Renaissance: An art movement combining different interdisciplinary fields together to promote new thought and create new ideas. By using the internet as a model for hybridization and connection, we hope to influence all modes of expression and art in the same way.
It is our goal to encourage generalist thinking by bringing different types of people both socially and career-oriented together. We wish to replicate what the internet does on a physical human scale; Create a social network of loose-knit artists working together both physically and abroad to create a Techno Renaissance. By finding this union between the digital and physical worlds, we hope to create a self-sustaining art web which creates work that encourages people to think critically.
A group of over fifty young artists in South Florida have come together to produce a series of events and projects to culturally-rehabilitate and celebrate the regions' art scene. The group has worked everything from gallery exhibitions and concerts in both South Florida and New York City to a publication with Dr. Ken Yeang, the leader of ecological and sustainable design in architecture. Their culminating event for 2011 is the Literati Film Festival at the Anthology Film Archives in New York which will feature such prestigious experimental filmmakers as Ben Russell and Robert Todd. The three day festival will include various gala parties, specifically the Pinion Gallery in New York, where the interiors of which will be designed and built by a team of architecture students in November of 2011.
Throughout the architecture design team's effort, each step will be documented. From conception to creation the artist's process in architecture has not been documented for those to see outside their immediate community. This design team, of various personalities, will be working on creating an installation of a gallery interior space. Members of the team will be working with various other art forms in their goal to create harmony between the arts and to create a union between forms. Architecture, music performance and composition, visual arts, film, fashion, and communication will be explored in an effort to discover new ideas through inter-disciplinary interaction.
Pinion Gallery is an artist run gallery located in Brooklyn, New York. The exhibited work reflects the working environment and emotional value associated with the surrounding area. Centered in an industrial neighborhood, the art shown in the gallery both compliments and challenges that aesthetic and nature. Pinion Gallery represents artists both national and international as well as exhibiting a wide variety of forms such as painting, sculpture, new media, film, video, animation, drawing, and photography. They represent both up and coming artists as well as those with wide acclaim such as Alex McLeod and various street artists such as The Phantom and Cryptik.
What We Need & What You Get
What we need primarily for this project and collaboration is funding for each of the processes involved. Your contribution goes to fund both the design installation of the Pinion Gallery as well as funding the documentary of the design process. All contributions go to make this effort of the arts possible.
What you get is commensurate with the level of funding. For our smallest contribution you will receive a copy of the final "Techno Renaissance" DVD. For our higher levels we offer everything from VIP passes to the Literati Film Festival, exclusive screenings and invitations to special events from both the festival and Pinion Gallery, to original art from members of the group. Each level is integral and vital to our success and funds the arts in the fullest way possible.
