UPDATED 1/2/2013 - I am sorry to report that Shawna Britt lost her battle with cancer this afternoon. The family is very appreciative of all the support they have received and Jon and I also thank you your continued support.  Dewey, your family remains in our thoughts and prayers.

Dewey Britt is a co-worker whom I've become good friends with over the past three years.  Jon Pomerantz, the co-chair on this initiative, is Dewey's supervisor and friend.

A little over a year ago, Dewey and his wife Shawna welcomed their first child, a daughter, Graycen.  Within a few months, Shawna was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.  Shawna and Dewey have been fighters the whole time, but it has been an uphill struggle.  I share with you a recent update Jon and I received from Dewey:

- "I wanted to give you a quick update on Shawna. Her last MRI showed some tumor growth. The tumor's location (brain stem) is becoming a problem. She is having swallowing issues. She gets choked a lot...  We are continuing with the same treatment for now but we are coming to the point of having to make a hard choice...  She can not get around without somebody pushing her in a wheelchair and helping her with daily tasks, she hardly speaks at all anymore... Her fine motor skills continue to get worse. She can bareley hold anything. Her sight is really bad also.  Graycen on the other hand is doing great. She keeps on growing and is all over the place.  Thank you for the understanding and support through this difficult time."

Jon and I have initiated this campaign to help raise money for the Britt family.  Please take the time to consider a donation, and equally important, please use your social media contacts to spread the word to help the Britts.  As you can imagine, brain cancer treatment is expensive, plus all of the other expenses the family has incurred.  100% of all monies donated will go directly to the Britt family (minus the web site's nominal posting fee).  Although the goal is set at $1,000, any amount collected is appreciated and I hope to far exceed the goal.
