Support for Military Families

Isn’t it every parent’s dream to have a strong, connected family and happy, healthy, confident kids?

Military families in our nation are struggling with this dream. According to the latest statistics, veteran suicides are outpacing war casualties. There is one veteran suicide every 36 hours. Military divorce rates continue to increase and every person in a military family feels the impact. According to a RAND study of 1500 military kids ages 11-17 compared to civilian kids of the same age, children of military families have significantly more emotional and behavioral problems than their non-military peers. Everyone touched by this information would like to help, now we have a way to!

Inspired by the story of a Combat Stress Officer, Kimochis® and The Gottman Institute partnered to create the Kimochis® Activity Kit for Military Families. This kit is designed to help military families learn positive communication skills that can help them stay connected throughout all phases of the deployment cycle. These skills increase resiliency and help ease the transition back home for both service members and their families.

One for the family at home and one for the service member who is deployed

throughout the 4 phases of deployment

Two plush hearts nestled together—one for the family at home and one for the service member to take during deployment.

A portion of this Indiegogo campaign will go to support Operation Hounds & Heroes, Tamar Geller’s inspirational foundation that works to help military heroes achieve personal transformation with canine companions. Tamar and her work inspired the Kimochis® character Hero!

This will put 1,000 Kimochis® Activity Kits in the hands of military families who need them.
