SUPER AWESOME! WHAT IS IT?
A comedy feature film about a couple of down and out buds, Mark and Gary, given one last shot at achieving their dreams. Out of the blue Mark and Gary find themselves with 250K to headline the opening night of a massive international festival. It's Rocky meets SuperBad set against the hilarious backdrop of two straight guys doing their best to write a musical about an issue they know nothing about - Gay Marriage. As the clock ticks down to opening night and the whole production inches towards collapsing, Mark and Gary ultimately are illuminated to the significance of gay marriage and the potential their musical has to make a change...but is it too little too late?
WHO ARE WE?
SUPER AWESOME! is written and directed by Guy Edmonds (feature debut) and Matt Zeremes (Burke and Wills, Strangers Lovers Killers). Both Guy and Matt have had extensive careers as actors in OZ and O.S, having worked together on the worldwide theatrical sensation - HOLDING THE MAN for over four years and having films premiere at Robert DeNiro's Tribeca Film Festival and Frameline to name a few.
Through boundary-pushing comedy, SUPER AWESOME! is one of the first contemporary Aussie films to explore the anxiety and prejudice surrounding gay marriage in our modern world.
WHAT WE NEED?
50K to to get us to London to shoot the films climax in the West End! The Australian component of the shoot is financed and set to shoot in Jan 2013.
What We Need & What You Get
The 50K will be used to fly a tiny crew to LONDON, accommodate, feed, pay for permits and shoot the films climax. We'll be doing it on a shoe string but it wont look like it!
Perks for helping us range from feeling good about contributing to something you feel passionate about, badges, stickers, on set access, all the way to 2 tickets to Sydney Mardi Gras 2013.
If we don't reach our goal we'll use what we raise to go to London anyway... maybe by a boat. It's an expensive venture but one that is pivotal to the films climax and great in giving an indie film some big budget scope!
If we're fortunate enough to receive more than our $50K target, the excess money will be used for additional principal photography, maybe we'll be able close down a street to shoot that Bollywood number in the rain after all...
