It is hard to believe that the Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance has already been going strong for 2 1/2 years! What’s even more remarkable is that we have performed almost 16,000 spay/neuter surgeries in that time. With the help of loyal supporters and a compassionate community, we have SAVED LIVES by preventing the births of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens across middle Tennessee.
At Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance, we’re not just about numbers, though, we also appreciate the impact our services make on the individual people in our community. This is Mr. Scott. He showed up in tears at our clinic one day. He lives out in the country and kept taking in dogs that were abandoned near his home. When he came to us, he had 14 dogs that he was caring for. None of them were spayed or neutered which led to a lot of problems—unwanted litters, fighting, things were out of control. We sat down with Mr. Scott and worked out a plan. We were able to spay and neuter all of the dogs and worked with one of our local rescue groups to find all the puppies homes. We need more capacity to help more in our community like Mr. Scott. We were able to partner with him to stop the cycle responsible for pet overpopulation.
As the old adage says, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." At the Sumner Spay Neuter Alliance we live that adage every day. It is critical that we continue our efforts on a larger scale and save more lives. Too many animals are suffering on the streets and dying in animal shelters. It is our mission to prevent those animals from being born into a world where there are already far too many who are unwanted.
This campaign is an important part of our fundraising efforts. We have located a building in Gallatin, but we must raise funds to renovate, purchase equipment and make the move to expand our services. Please support our efforts by donating today. With your help we can do so much more!
