String of Light

String of light is a short film story that images eros as the most powerful cartel.

The Story

We determined early on that if we were to return to the Mexican drug war we would approach it differently. We asked ourselves would it be possible to completely flip a morally bankrupted character upside down? Is there a life line, so to speak, that we can pull ourselves up from no matter how far we have transgressed Or are there certain ethical lines, which once crossed, forfeit your humanity.

A few years after the events of Trozos de Luz, we find the once invincible Gus broken and dispirited. He is on a quest to avenge the only person in his life that recognized he could be a life-giver rather than taker. When he is near his goal of finally ending everything, he discovers that she may still be alive after all.

This film concludes the story line of Trozos de Luz. The film will be entirely in Spanish, but have English subtitles.

The original short film Trozos de Luz can be found here.

Why We Need You

All of the talent and crew on this project are dedicating their time and sweat with no thought of compensation other than being part of making something beautiful.  A happy crew is a fed crew and providing meals during principal photography is the most important use of contributed funds. The funds will also goes towards paying for submission fees to film festivals allowing us to target specific markets where the film will be well received. And, hopefully, our cast/crew will receive recognition for their hard efforts.  The remaining funds would go to securing a RED camera, which provides a superior visual aesthetic than what we currently have access to.

Our goal is $2,000 for the project, but all contributions that exceed our goal will be put to good use.

Franco Castan will be playing Pedro. Acting came into Franco's life by chance after a friend asked if he'd come along to audit an acting class. Recently, Franco has co-starring as Dr. Ramirez in Ridley Scott's medical thriller, "Coma," and on NBC's newest hit show, "Revolution," produced by JJ Abrams.
