WE ARE STORK
Hey there! Thanks for checking out our campaign. We are Thomas Lang & Shane Gibson, AKA, stOrk’s founding members.
Some of you may know Thomas for his freakishly advanced drumming skills and for things like THIS & THIS -- or even THIS. You may also know Shane as the touring guitarist for Korn and for his freakishly advanced guitar playing skills that lend themselves to him doing things like THIS & THIS and sometimes even THIS.
In 2010, we debuted our instrumental, progressive heavy metal trio, stOrk. We were super-proud of our first record. The fans loved it, and the nice people in the press said awesome things about stOrk like:
“This is easily some of the best prog metal I’ve heard all year… which is an incredibly grand statement in a year when Scale the Summit, Protest the Hero, Devin Townsend, Mastodon, Dream Theater, Opeth and Meshuggah all have albums coming out or already out.” - Vince Neilstein, Metal Sucks
“With his new band stOrk, the super-human Austrian has more going on than polyrhythmic trickery and ridiculous speed — but there’s still plenty of that too.” Dave Constantine, DRUM! Magazine
“Praise for Shane Gibson of stOrk: "... Gibson’s ability to emphasize different pulses in each measure has evolved into a monstrous skill for creating compelling riffs. Combined with his penchant for heavy distortion and his love of 7-string guitars, these phrases often retain a pummel-you-in-the- chest feel while having a refreshingly “odd meter” sound.” Jude Gold - Guitar Player
THE NEW STORK!
For our second release, "Broken Pieces" the stOrk wanted to sing! So we added an incredible female front woman VK Lynne who many, many of you know from Eve's Apple and Vita Nova. We also added bassist Kelly Lemieux (Buckcherry/Goldfinger) to the line up (because he’s awesome!).
But for our 2nd album, we've added VOCALS (and a badass lady to sing them!). Why? Because we're down with reaching a whole new audience of fans who like ALL of those things you read about above (blistering guitars, freakishly incredible drums, merciless basstastics) PLUS they dig some awesome vocals to sing along-to (and pink hair).
WHY DO WE NEED MORE MONEY?
FINISH THE RECORD: Studio time, mixing, mastering, etc., is all pretty expensive.
CDs: First of all, we need to actually print thousands of copies of the record, which costs money.
RADIO: Next, we want EVERYONE to hear this record because, frankly, we wrote and recorded some pretty awesome rock tunes with catchy hooks and great lyrics galore. This record is a hit (if we do say so ourselves). So we need to pay for what is known as “radio promo.” That means we hire someone to promote this record to the nice people at radio so you can hear stOrk songs on your local rock stations.
VIDEO: We’re not looking to do some immense production number with dolphins swimming up Sunset Blvd. (We're looking at you Axl). But we want fans to see the new stOrk line up in action! It’s all about the awesome playing of the rock and stOrk delivers the goods live! What we’re talking about is a cool, live video.
TOUR SUPPORT: the best way for us to promote this record is to get out and play some shows and rock out for the fans live.
