I have a new venture called Stonebridge Coffee. I have always wanted to own my own business, and a coffee shop fits me in so many ways. I like places where you can hang out, be yourself, and slowly, over time, get to know others. I like places where live music can be heard. I like meeting places. I like the idea of owning my own business so that I can buy strangers dinner some day, employ people and help them pay their bills, and provide a physical space where love is present on a daily basis.
To me, this process is all about Hebrews 10:24-25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Stonebridge will strive to live that out as a business in the way we can give to those around us, but we also want to live that out in the ways we receive. For me, the understanding of what it means to walk in community has had a lot to do with learning how to humble ourselves and ask for/receive help. Indiegogo is one more step in that process.
So, why a Coffee shop? Why Stonebridge Coffee? We see Christ in a community of twelve, impacting the lives of millions, and all of it being launched with a last supper. Stonebridge Coffee, with God’s help and our community’s help (which now includes you) will be for some the first time they experience a smile, a safe place, new music, coffee and even Christ.
Won’t you join our team? You can help launch this venture by giving to our startup needs and/or by spreading the word to everyone you know.
What We Need: A Breakdown of Some Costs
While a coffee shop is a relatively simple business to start, there are start-up expenses that go beyond our current capabilities. We'd love your help. Below we've listed just a few of the start-up expenses we'll have.
- Espresso machine: $4000+
- Refrigerated food case: $2000+
- Marketing swag (tee's, mugs, and more): $1800+
- Sound system: $10,000 (roughly)
- Register/point-of-sale & CRM software: $500
- Permits & Licenses: $5000
- And more!
We are young parents with two preschoolers at home. We have always dreamt of owning our own business, and, over the years, the "coffee shop dream" just wouldn't let us go. We figure: it's now or never.
We want to build something out of community for community. We don't want to do this alone - we believe in strangers helping strangers. Our lives have been profoundly imapcted that way many times in the past.
By giving to Stonebridge Coffee, you'll be helping parents take care of their children, a couple fulfill a dream, and a business support a neighborhood.
Whenever possible - FYI - we will source local vendors and use only the highest-quality products. We'll give local artists a place to hang their art or sing their songs. In short, this venture will impact many, many lives. We hope you'll join us in making a difference today.
Other Ways You Can Help
Can't swing a donation right now? We understand! Here are some other ways you can help:
- SPREAD THE WORD! Tell you friends! How cool would it be if this coffee shop was 100% community funded???
- Send us your coffee mugs! We want to serve coffee in mugs from the people that have supported us. Ship us your mug and know that you're a part of making history.
