What is the STILL Project?
STILL is a documentary film committed to breaking the silence surrounding pregnancy and infant loss. Woven together using first hand accounts of families who have lost a baby to miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS and other causes, STILL will take an inside look at the devastating isolation and the steadfast resilience that results when a baby dies.
We are Carrie and Jonathan Pascual, a husband and wife production team based in Los Angeles. But more importantly we are parents who have walked this road of grief and healing. Having lost our own baby girl to stillbirth in 2002 and coming dangerously close to losing our unborn son in 2004, we are setting out to make a film that will give voices to those who have suffered loss as well as those who aren't sure how to respond to it.
While we have been fortunate to work on a number of meaningful film projects for worthwhile causes, we now turn our attention to STILL, the film that has been tugging at our hearts to be made for close to ten years. But we certainly can't do it alone, nor would we want to. To make STILL as comprehensive and far-reaching as it deserves to be we need YOU. Your financial support, your stories and your voice are what will give the STILL Project the power to change how we deal with infant death. So where do I fit in?
We need $35,000 to cover the first phase of production. While that number may seem huge, it will enable us to examine communities and capture the unique stories of families around the world. Our anticipated budget includes:
Equipment - $ 1,200
Shooting, audio tech and editing - $14,000
Travel expenses - $18,500
Insurance - $800
Licensing and permits - $500
What happens if we don't reach our goal? We'll scale back the number of locations and distances for travel. We are committed to producing this film whether it is forced to become more narrow in scope or it is given the chance to be truly reflective of pregnancy and infant loss globally.
And what if we exceed our goal? Then we'll go further to reach even more families. And we'll be ahead of the game for the second phase of production, which will include color correction, audio mixing and all of the technical requirements needed to prepare STILL for distribution. The more we raise, the greater the impact of STILL.
What's in it for me?
Besides the satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing to a film that will positively change how grieving families are cared for? Just take a look at all of the exciting contribution perks we're offering right over there! -------------------------->
Why should I care?
Because more than 26,000 babies die during pregnancy or infancy in the U.S. each year. Because this type of loss has likely happened to someone you love, and you might not even know about it. This is your chance to join a movement of people who are committed to changing the stigma surrounding this topic. Together we can break down the wall of silence that exists between those who want so desperately to speak about their children and those who don't know what to say.
