WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
Every time someone purchases one of our shirts, they are helping another individual. Each sale donates ten percent towards our educational outreach program and scholarship funds. The educational outreach program teaches both children and adults about how placing a negative stereotype on someone can have a harmful impact and explores the concept of unity within diversity. Our scholarships will be awarded to at-risk youth and others who are positively contributing to their community.
HOW WE BEGAN
After the February 26, 2012 death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, Adam Sweeney, like many Americans, discussed the incident with several of his friends. He discovered they all had something in common; they had been negatively stereotyped at some point in their lives. The stories of his peers inspired Sweeney. Upon further research, Sweeney found stereotypes were at the root of many forms of hostility between humans. He founded Stereotype Apparel in April 2012 and began searching for partners in the campaign against discrimination.
THE TEAM BEHIND THE NAME
At Stereotype Apparel, it really isn't about a political statement. We feel when someone is profiled and a tragic outcome is the result, there needs to be a change. We want everyone to be part of that change. While we are currently a small staff and new to the business world, we are dedicated self-starters motivated to making a difference in our own neighborhoods. We believe in combating negative labels with unity and a message of acceptance.
OUR GOAL & HOW YOU CAN HELP
Believe it or not, starting a company costs a good amount of money but we think it's well worth it since we have the opportunity to help others.. With that in mind, our goal is to raise $15,000.

HOW DOES INDIEGOGO WORK?
People pledge any amount and choose a reward. At the end of our Indiegogo campaign, if the combined total of all pledges for our project meets our $15,000 goal, then the credit cards of those who pledge are charged and we receive the funds to create the clothing line, minus a 4% charge from Indiegogo for hosting the campaign. If we exceed our $15,000 goal then the extra funds will be used to make the clothing line even better. Aside from a 4% Indiegogo fee and a 2-3% fee on each contribution for payment processing, all funds raised will be used directly in the clothing line creation.
CAN I INCREASE MY PLEDGE ONCE IT'S BEEN MADE?
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T HIT YOUR GOAL IN TIME?
If we don't meet our goal, then the money we've raised goes to help the company BUT we are charged 9% of the overall money raised. We know you won't let this happen!
CAN WE EXCEED THE GOAL?
YES! We should be so lucky! Indiegogo will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. Even though $15k isn't something you'll find in your couch unless you're Mark Zuckerberg. (If you are, please donate to this. Thanks, Mark.) if 150 people give $100 donation, or less than $2 a week for a year, we hit our goal. We think it's totally doable, thanks to all of your help. 15K is bargain-basement for what we are trying to do, and more money would mean a greater chance to help others, which is what this company is all about.
How do we contact you? Glad you asked! You can contact us directly at Adam@stereotypeapparel.com. We check it. We will get back to you. We promise!
