Step of Hope - Children With Special Needs - Berane, Montenegro

My name is Jovan Loncar. I am from Berane, Montenegro. I currently live in Highland Park, Illinois. My family, my friends, and I are here to help raise money for the children of berane with special needs in order for them to have adequate medical supplies, transportation, and a better faciility. 

There are two associations gathering children and youth with disabilities in Berane and their parents, functioning in very difficult conditions. NGO "Step of Hope" is founded in 2007 and has 60 members, 3 months to 27 years of age. NGO "Brighter Future" is founded in 2003, has 30 members, 7 to 25 years of age. The most frequent disabilities are cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, epilepsy, hemiplegia, speech and hearing impairments, low vision…There is a large number of children and youth with disabilities in Berane that are not included in the two associations, and the estimated total number of children and youth with disabilities is more than 500. Associations lack adequate space, there is no day care center for the children, inadequate space in the premises of a primary school is used for physiotherapy treatment, and they also lack essential medical equipment, preparations and drugs.

The Goal

We are hoping to raise at least $10,000 to help out the chidren with their disabilities. With this money we are able to have adequate medical supplies, a vehicle for taking the children from their homes to school, and enhance their  current facility.
