Are you tired of being tracked online by all the big web companies who treat you as nothing more than a dollar symbol? Is trading your privacy for the ability to use a feature really the only choice that you have? In today's online world, it seems that every major website such as Google, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, to name just a few, track each and every action we take on their sites, saving and cataloging each and every move we make and item we view. Some go so far as to plant codes on our computers without our knowledge or permission that track where we go online even when we are not using their services. I know I am not alone in being concerned about the lack of privacy and the amount of intrusion into our personal lives this creates. But what are we to do since for most of us these sites are a part of our everyday life, and programs that we cannot imagine our lives without. Further, why is it that we are forced to have so many different accounts just to have access to these features? Facebook account and password, Twitter account and password, YouTube account and password, Flicker, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram and on and on. Wouldn't it be much simpler to have one single site that has all the functionality of these sites, but in one single convenient site? One site, one account, one password and all the best of the most popular sites on the web located in one, easy to use site. This is what I am working on creating and could use your help. I want to create a site just as powerful as Facebook but without the privacy invasion that we have been forced to endure. My site starlike.me will have all the features that you love to use on any of the major websites. Do you want to blog (Tumblr); tweet (Twitter); post a message for a friend (Facebook); upload a video (YouTube); store photos (Flicker); edit and share photos (Instagram); have a pin-board (Pinterest)? All of these features and more will be available just as you know them on these other sites. This is a site for all of us to use and enjoy and will provide the latest features of all the major sites. The major difference though is that it will never ever track you or keep your information on file. I don't need to know where you go or what you do or who you talk to. This is your private life and a website has no need to have this info. There are plenty of ways to earn the income needed to pay the bills of a site without treating the users as items to be sold off to large companies that wish to advertise to them. You are a person, not some corporation's personal piggy bank to be used at will. This site not only will not track its users it will be programmed to not have the capability to do so. In addition to having all the features we love from the other major sites, there are a few unique ones that I would like starlike.me to have. As a music lover, one of my favorites is live band concerts. Wouldn't it be cool to sign on and watch a live concert put on by your favorite local band when you can't get there personally? And if you're that band struggling to get your music heard, how would you like the ability to broadcast a concert live to all you fans and even sell virtual tickets and song downloads to raise some funds? This site will have the ability to do so. It will also feature an iTunes type of song store where you can buy the latest hits from your favorite bands and share them instantly with your friends. Speaking of live events, starlike.me will be a site where you can always count on finding your favorite stars taking part in some kind of live event. Be it a chat, concert, podcast, or more, starlike.me will be the place "where stars shine" and we all can interact personally with them and not some agent running their Facebook promotion. This is just a short introduction to this site and the features that it will have. I have started with the site and am working with programmers to make this a reality but at this point I am in need of funding assistance to continue the project. This is something not just for me, this is a site for all of us and I need all of your help. Together we can create a site that allows us to have all the features we have become accustomed to, but without the big corporations stealing our information and invading our privacy. In addition to your wonderful contributions, please help me get the word out about this project so that we can show these companies what we think of them.
