SINGLETRACK -- THE MOVIE

When the military parents of a high school girl are deployed, big changes come to their teenage daughter’s life in this coming of age story.

Synopsis
After school, 15-year-old Robin returns to her home in Monterey, CA, where she learns some disturbing news. Her military parents have been deployed overseas, and they tell her that, unlike previous relocations, she will not be able to join them.

Her parents decide that Robin will move to Colorado to live with her Uncle Jimmy and his family. Several weeks later, Robin arrives in Colorado and is greeted at the airport by her cousin, Suzy, whom she hasn’t seen in 10 years.

In this coming of age story, Robin and Suzy soon realize that they are very similar but also very different in their outlooks on life, family, boys and competition.

Imagine "Footloose" With Bikes
SingleTrack is a narrative-feature film about mountain biking and more specifically, the first Hollywood-style film about mountain biking. There have been numerous documentary films about mountain biking. SingleTrack will be a unique story with the scenery of Colorado playing a leading role in the film.  With the exception of a few scenes, the entire film will be shot in rural Colorado.  The primary location will be Crested Butte, CO, which has not had a feature film shot there since the 1979 film “Mountain Family Robinson.”

The project has already been endorsed and is supported by The Colorado High School Cycling League, the National Interscholastic Cycle Association (NICA), International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA), Bikes Belong, People For Bikes, Colorado Mountain Bike Association, the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame as well as the Gunnison/Crested Butte Tourism Association.

Why do we need your help?
We are working closely with the Colorado High School Cycling League on this project in order to make sure that we capture the story and "real-world" feel of high school MTB racing.

We have already begun preliminary production, and hope to begin filming in 2013. Locations for our shoots will feature some of the most epic scenery in Colorado, including: Crested Butte, Gunnison, Vail, Aspen, Salida, Buena Vista and Durango.

We are raising funds which will enable us to complete the development phase of SingleTrack, and give us the resources to move into pre-production. Upon successful funding of this project, we will complete the casting process; select a director, the director of photography and the crew for the film.

We are committed to shooting as much of SingleTrack in and around Colorado; and we will be using as many Colorado-based actors, cast and crew as humanly possible. Colorado is considered to one of the birthplaces of mountain biking; so it's only natural for the state of Colorado to play a starring roll in the film.

We have already selected several of our lead roles with Colorado actors including Christine Mascolo, who will play the role of Robin, and Isaac Stackonis, in the role of Gavin.  Isaac has competed in the Colorado High School Cycling League for the Salida High School team, and he won a State Championship in 2011 in his division. The role of the the team's coach will be played by Los Angeles based actress Aida Rodriguez. Other casting announcements will soon be forthcoming.

We will also be using numerous non-actors to play a part in SingleTrack, as such, we will be looking for high school age extras here in Colorado in 2013. Our plan is to use as many high school students and "real" mountain bike riders throughout the production of SingleTrack.

In addition to your contribution, please assist us and share this campaign with your friends, and ask them to support the film!

Colorado & Mountain Biking
Showcasing Colorado as a mecca for mountain biking - in a way that has yet to be accomplished - is our number one goal. While most high school sports take place in easily accessible gyms, fields and on courts located in towns and communities across the country; mountain biking takes places in the wilderness - often miles from the closest town. SingleTrack will bring the mountain biking sport into theaters and onto television screens across the nation - and around the globe.

SingleTrack will also positively impact local business communities throughout the Rocky Mountains of Colorado - as we will be hiring local/regional cast and crew, and we will provide economic benefits in these communities where the film is being shot by using local and independent businesses, including: caters, hotels, restaurants and other supporting businesses.

We need your help to get our bikes moving down the "singletracks" of Colorado and to see this project through to completion. Your contributions will be greatly appreciated and are critical to the success of this film.
