What is Show Discipline?
Show Discipline is a thought-provoking street wear brand for the mavericks that question the standards set by society. Show Discipline is for those who believe in deeper meanings, reading between the lines, and thinking outside the box. Those who Show Discipline believe in seeking out information, rather than accepting that which is fed to them on a daily basis. Those who Show Discipline stay focused and do not allow the everyday distractions of life to divert them from their goals or knock them off course.
Initially Show Discipline will be producing basic clothing items such as graphic tees, sweatshirt, and hats. In addition we will continue to make films and art pieces to create social awareness and promote an artistic lifestyle. Overtime we aspire to expand the brand into the realm of cut and sew, creating a full collection of men’s and women’s clothing items ranging from outerwear and denim, to leggings and buttons ups. Eventually we would like to expand even further, to become a full lifestyle brand producing accessories, leather goods, shoes, and even household products and gadgets such as phone cases, towels, clocks, etc.
Why Back this Project?
Show Discipline needs your help to raise brand awareness in order to successfully launch our clothing line
We will be using the money donated to cover the production costs of a capsule collection that will be strategically distributed and sold to trendsetters, artists, and fashionistas who will promote the brand and spread the message.
Funds will also go toward creating one of a kind art/fashion pieces such as limited edition hand painted and patch worked vests, as well as one of a kind paintings we will place around New York City.
We will also be using the funds to cover the costs of basic promotional materials such as business cards, stickers, and flyers.
Who is Show Discipline?
Show Discipline is the brainchild of Jay Jefferson and Michelle Sordi. Jay grew up in Brooklyn, and has always had a finger on the pulse of the streets. Growing up during the evolution of both hip hop and the street wear phenomenon has given him a deep understanding of the culture of the street wear market. Jay was formally trained as an artist working in various mediums, from studying at the High School of Art and Design in New York City. He continued to cultivate his craft by attending FIT to study fashion design. After school he worked for several fashion companies including Giorgio Armani and FILA, before straying into the real estate market. He eventually established an appraisal company of his own. In recent years, Jay has decided to make drastic life changes to return to his passions of art and design. Through his artistic journey he met Michelle and the two established Show Discipline in 2012.
Michelle on the other hand grew up on Long Island with an infatuation for clothes and design. She began attending classes in her spare time at the Fashion Institute of Technology when she was 13. She also attended a fashion design program at a vocational school part time during her junior and senior year of high school, and eventually went on to study fashion design at FIT. Michelle studied abroad in Milan, Italy during her junior year, where she learned a different approach to design through European training. She traveled throughout Europe, and was inspired by the art, history, and fashions she saw, which expanded her creativity a geat deal. After graduation Michelle gained industry experience working for a luxury outerwear company. During this time she met Jay and decided to take a leap of faith and persue her dream of creating a brand of her own with her new partner in crime.
