ShesGameSports.com - It's Time!

The female sports fan has gone pro. Though she makes up nearly 50% of the pro sports audience, she still has no real media home of her own. We're changing that.

Here’s a sports fact I bet you don’t know:

Women make up almost half of the pro sports fan base in the U.S.

That’s right.

So why hasn’t anyone figured out how to give this sports-crazed woman a website designed with her needs in mind?

At She’s Game Sports we’re doing just that. Hey, we're just as passionate and involved as any guy, yet the men have hundreds of sports websites and the women have next to nothing designed with them in mind.

We also like to have fun, just like the guys;  Check out our link on today's She'sGameSports.com featured video:  Bad Lip Reading: the NFL -- hysterical.   Or look at the great cook off challenge between mayors of Boston and Baltimore prior to the big game on Sunday:  great recipes, good food.  Manti Te'o?  Women want to know about this -- and we have it covered.  The Bruins are back; Francona, well, his book is ready...and more, more.

Give us a visit -- laugh, learn engage:

Here’s a question for all of you sports-savvy women out there:

Wouldn’t you love a place to share opinions, talk some good sports trash and have some fun?

We think it’s time for a change, and the men in your life are going to like what we’re doing too.

Let’s make some history together.

At ShesGameSports.com, we are bringing a whole new community to life that is dedicated to you, the female sports fan. We know why you love sports since we are women too. We know you aren’t “fluffy’ when it comes to sports -- neither are we.

Whether your favorite sport is is football, baseball, hoops, hockey or NASCAR, we understand that it’s great to be a sports fan!

But we need your help getting off the ground.

We are in the web development process and need a financing bridge to help get our new website to you. A unique and fully featured website is under construction right now at a professional design house in Boston, with a delivery date of March 1st. Please make a contribution to our Indiegogo campaign -- and help us break new ground in sports!

It’s time for a fantastic national online sports destination created for women, by women.

All you guys out there … you know who we’re talking about. This sports fan is your wife, girlfriend, sister, mother or daughter. She’s the one who wants the extra ticket now. She’s the one screaming at the television during the game. We know women want a piece of the action, and She’s Game Sports is going to give it to them!

It will be the place you love to come every morning to check in on your teams and your players, find out the national sports stories that pull you out of your seat –- stories that will make you laugh, cry and think. It will be where you go to get sports related news you can use, shopping deals and ask those questions you’ve have been dying to ask, safely, without anyone making fun of you.

Why are we going to succeed?

Because we are professional sports broadcasters and great sports writers who really know what is going on in pro sports, and we get how women look at sports differently. We are coming at it from a fresh perspective that does not get filtered through an existing sports media company that might have a way, well -- that they HAVE to do things.  And, we are capable of attracting more top talent just like us - we already have.  She's Game Sports is a female pro sports reporter's dream come true.

This is what we also know to be true:  we all watch the same game, but after the game, we have different questions, want different stories and want the info easily accessible because we are always on the go. We’re also into having a lot of fun at ShesGameSports.com, and so will you.

Your contributions will help us get to our next milestone of launching the ShesGameSports.com official website, scheduled for March of 2013, and will support us as we build up content and marketing elements for our first major marketplace rollout in the northeast through the end of the summer. Once we have gathered our audience and have our business model in motion, we’ll be headed your way.

More about Us

ShesGameSports.com was founded in 2010 by 25-year veteran sports reporter and Olympian Alice Cook who has put together a winning start-up team.

Our management roster includes include Kathryn Tappen, a national sports reporter and NHL Network host; Lydia Hatton Everett, cable and network television exec; Laurie Miller Voke, a proven “rain-maker” in the world of sports marketing and advertising; Arielle Aronson, a sports writer and web producer with years of experience covering college and professional sports; and our digital web and video experts at Cramer Media, who are building our national web platform. Our CFO/COO Martin Kelleher is former CFO at Monster.com and our Board of Advisors span the television, sports, finance, and digital media industries.

We are absolutely dedicated to successfully delivering this new professional media platform for women into the world of sports – we are also big-time athletes too. We all like to say that we “have a high compete level”.

Our Early Milestones

Our first beta website launched this summer and has been a simple platform which allows us to pull together a content team, create publishing routines and try different styles of writing and content, including expanding on sports with fashion and day-to-day lifestyle stories.

We have a dedicated tab on the Boston.com sports navigation bar (She’s Game Sports) where we publish special features throughout the week – Alice’s story on Kevin McHale got over 100,000 hits.

Our new business partnership with Cramer Media has provided us access to some of the best digital brains in town, and they have our website mapped and under construction. In addition to a great team of writers, we also have one of the hottest social media squads around who are huge sports fans, and they are raring to go.

What will our website be like?

ShesGameSports.com has a big place coming in the world of media. We already cover national sports and New England sports stories on and off the field. Our official website will be host to the traditional stories every sports fan wants to read, but we will also have so much more.

For example, we were the only web publication to feature a piece on Sue Paterno during the Penn State scandal. We had over 12,000 hits on our story explaining which five bad calls by the substitute refs were the biggest problem in a Patriots game this fall (Men loved that piece on our Boston.com blog). We just wrote an extensive article on concussions. We will provide a sports glossary and pieces to help fans close the knowledge gap on sports they are familiar with or dive into something new. We also provide game-day recipes and game-day style tips so we can look good and entertain our friends.

We’re creating an online community here as well. Sports is local, after all. Professional sports acts as a “social currency” in each of our communities, and we want each of us and YOU to have better access to the world of sports in your town – be it ticketing, events, best ways to park at the stadiums ... anything that is going to up the fun meter for you, your friends and your family.

What exactly will a contribution do?

The contributions we raise now will help us bridge the business gap during this early stage business development period of six months.

We need to pay a web producer to keep the content fresh and interesting. In order to have photos on the website, we need to pay US Presswire $1000 per month for a photo subscription. Then there are costs for an ad server ($500 per month), web hosting ($100 per month) and video hosting (a future expense).

Lastly, we know the media game is won by providing great content, and we have no doubt we are capable of that, but the lights are going to be kept on by building a loyal audience who likes to come back for more. To that end, we have six events planned for spring 2013, and those will come with a marketing cost of about $250 each to help with community building, get feedback and expanding to a great base.

Women Only? Really?

ShesGameSports.com is not an exclusive club. We think there are plenty of men out there who will appreciate our content. They already do -- we’ve seen it in our stats. It's our intent to inspire, entertain and engage EVERYONE with sports stories "from the heart" and round out the dialogue in the world of sports. We simply want to make sure that there is a place designed for women in the sports world. If men are interested too, we say “the more, the merrier.”

Thank you from all of us at She's Game Sports!
