My name is Dan Thornton. Eddie and I worked together many years ago making knives of all shapes and sizes. Now I'm making a documentary about his career. I have started this campaign to raise $2,000 to help with post-production and distribution and appreciate any help you can give toward that goal.
For years Eddie White worked in the shadows of other knifemakers. He did the work but got little credit except from the few people who knew the skills he possessed. A short time ago, relative to the 35 years he's been in the business, Eddie started making knives under his own brand.
Now he has a successful knife shop. In naming his new business he chose "Shadow Knives" to represent all the years that he stood in the background.
Shadowland gives insight into the life of a custom knifemaker. It shows what it takes to maintain this sort of business, and a little about the people and circumstances that helped Eddie succeed.
In order to get the funding to complete this movie we're offering several rewards at different levels for people who pledge to back the film. Some of the most interesting rewards are Special Thanks or Associate Producer credit in the film itself. If you're a knife collector you might like to receive one of the two knives that were made during the course of filming the movie.
The first one, engraved SD000, was filmed from the beginning up until heat treating of the blade and was finished off camera. The second one, labeled SD001, was ground off camera then heat treated and began it's life on screen in the final stages of fine grinding the blade then attaching and shaping the handle and finally polishing then sharpening.
Below is a picture of the two knives that were finished during filming. There will be 9 more similar to these offered as a limited edition. They will be marked SD002 through SD010. The SD stands for Shadowland Documentary.
Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate any help you can give toward funding this documentary.
