Tsepo Ramonene is an Olympic marathon runner representing his country (Lesotho) in the London Olympics 2012.
Tsepo is 20 years old. He is the sole bread winner of his family, consisting of his parents and siblings. His race winnings feed his entire family.
This extremely low level of income has resulted in Tsepo only managing to complete his primary schooling. Tsepo wishes to be successful academically as well as an athlete.
Secondary school in Lesotho would only cost $180 a year, however, this is an unimaginable amount for Tsepo and his family.
We are filmmakers from Cape Town, South Africa who recently went to Lesotho to make a completely unfunded motivational video (featured in this campaign) of Lesothos Olympic athletes. After discovering Tsepo and spending a short time with him during filming we got to see the situation he was in.
Our aim is to send Tsepo to school so that when he fulfills his athletic career he will be able to continue to support his family, who has raised such a talent that Lesotho can be proud of. If we are successful we are looking at setting up a trust that can continue to support upcoming talents in Lesotho.
If you are unable to contribute I ask that you share the videos that we post of Tsepo and do your part to inspire upcoming athletes and support Tsepo in the London 2012 Olympics.
