Who we are:
Hello, Sweetie! Podcast is a geek themed podcast with an all female panel. We bring the latest in geek news and information to our listeners in a fun and entertaining way, from the female perspective. Although our listerners are both male and female, HSPC has a mission to represent and empower female geeks. We all know what it is like to feel lost or forgotten. The awkward girl who developed late... had their first crush on a superhero... would rather play Dungeons and Dragons with her friends or read comic books than go out on dates or play sports... Our goal is to show our fellow nerdy girls that there is a community out there that will embrace and celebrate them! LARPing, cosplay, comic books, video games, roller derby, TV, movies, music and more... our mission is to create a safe, supportive environment for females in the fringe community, and be informative, fun and entertaining while we do it!
What We Need & What You Get
We need your help to get to the Denver and Phoenix Comic Cons. We want to report on the latest and greatest geek news and information, and there is no better place to be for new and amazing geekery than the summer comic conventions. But more than that, attending these comic cons would be a huge opportunity for Hello, Sweetie! Podcast to access a wider, global audience, helping increase our listerners and spread our message of support for the girl geek.
A portion of the proceeds of this event will go to creating merchandize that we can sell at the cons to help get our name out there, as well as financing our trips to the cons (gas, hotel, etc.) Donors will receive perks in the form of merch, shout outs, and opportunities to have the panelists plug a cause, group, or event of your choice!
The Impact
Since the popular article regarding "fake geek girls" came into the public eye, females in the geek community are being scrutinized and judged more than ever. We want to spread our message nationwide that you can be any level of geeky... you are valid and wonderful and should embrace the things that make you unique. Geek girls need healthy representation in the community. Not just as hot cosplay models (those ladies too, of course), but as real women who have real interests and real depth. Our show is funny, informative, and helps bring girls the geeky info they crave from our own perspective.
