Help Me Get to Kenya!
I'm Susanna Sabin, a 17 y/o sophomore at Cal State LA, and my passion is anthropology!
Ever since I was little, I've always been fascinated with bones, anthrolpology and the origins of mankind. Now I have the chance to fuel that interest like never before, with a five week stay at a field study school in Kenya, to help discover, catalogue and study the ancient fossils.
It's rare that a minor such as myself ever gets such an opportunity. This will be a life-changing experience for me. Please help me follow my dream and get to Kenya.
People talk all the time about how important it is to engage young people such as myself in the sciences. Here is your opportunity to help a young person pursue her scientific ambition, and to encourage others to do the same!
Kenya ain't Cheap!
The total cost of the field study school in Kenya is just over $11,000, a stretch for a middle class family. This includes the round trip flight, immunizations, the gear I'll need, money for visas, and of course, the cost of the program itself. The $4800 I'm asking for would cover what my family hasn't already been able to raise.
In return for your generosity, I've agreed to keep copious notes while away, and compile them when I get back into a full length book, detailing my journey to and my time in Kenya. It will be like you're taking the journey with me, as whatever I learn, about myself and the origins of man, you can learn as well. This will be a limited edition book, available only to donators who give $25 or more. I'll also be baking cookies and taking photos of myself in Kenya with personalized thank yous to contributors! If you'd also like an annotated photo album of the trip (and I'll be taking lots of pictures!) you can give $100. All of my perks are designed to transfer my experience of Kenya directly to you. Take my word for it, the round trip flight is more expensive than any of the donations I'm requesting.
