What's this campaign about?
This is about pulling together to do stuff that matters.
Since 2010 Linked Orange County has hosted events featuring some of the most recognized names in marketing & advertising, social media and thought leadership including:
Seth Godin (Permission Marketing, Purple Cow, Tribes, Linchpin)
David Meerman Scott (The New Rules of Marketing & PR)
Brian Solis (Engage, The End of Business As Usual)
Chris Brogan (Trust Agents)
Scott Stratten (UnMarketing, The Business Book of Awesome)
Gary Vaynerchuk (Crush it!, The Thank You Economy)
Simon Manwaring (We First)
David Armano (Edelman)
Rohit Bhargava (Likeonomics, Olgilvy Digital)
Mari Smith (The New Relationship Marketing)
Mike Stelzner (Launch)
Jeff Hayzlett (Running the Gauntlet)
Amber Naslund (The Now Revolution)
Clark Kokich (Do or Die, Razorfish)
Sally Hogshead (Fascinate)
Ben Parr (Mashable)
and many more...
There's no denying the huge impact that these events have had on Orange County. One of my personal goals have been to try and develop OC into a hub for start ups and entrepreneurs, instead of being famous for a few "Housewives" who live in Coto...
I've personally seen the changes in individual people and businesses that have benefited from attending our events and and walked away with real expert instruction usually at a cost less than you'd pay for lunch.
We Need Your Support to Continue...
These events on average cost about $5,000 to produce. Costs include flights, hotel, travel, talent fee, venue rental, catering and more. Our biggest event to date has been with Seth Godin at The Segerstrom Center, with a price tag of about $80,000.
As you may know, this is my labor of love, not full-time job--not even close. Events take a lot of time, money and preparation and up to this point I've been doing it all in my spare time, usually late at night.
Almost all of the work happens on faith, as I have to front the money to secure the speakers followed by a frenzy of promotion and anxiety, as I try and make the money back just to break even via ticket sales and sponsorhip. Activating everyone at the end of the process is nerve-wracking and inefficient.
"We" is Greater Than "Me"
So how do we get it done? From now on, it's up to you--or should I say, us. If you want it, you will need to step up and make it happen by making a contribution. We can do it together.
The good news is that no single person needs to carry more than another. If we distribute the cost weight equally, we only need 500 people (out of our current 15,000 members) to contribute $10.
This campagin is and all or nothing experiment. That is, if it gets fully funded it's on. If we fall short, you will NOT be charged and the event will simply be cancelled.
Other Ways You Can Help
There may be some who are in a position to contribute more--great! Sponsorship will still be available in exchange for exposure to the group via our weekly email and at the LIVE events. Check out the perks on the side for details.
